Why do we bother raking?
24 hours later and it looks like I did nothing. I’m trying to look at it as glass half full & that I got some exercise.
Next more important task: get pine needles out of the eavestroughs. Fortunately I have a great nephew to help with that tomorrow!

I opened up the bird houses to clean them out for next year and WOW! Those little tiny house wrens really packed a lot into their home this summer! Little pack rats they are!

Can’t wait to see what they do with the place next year.

It’s been a few stressful months. I do my best to make time to re-centre myself. At the beach, feeling my feet in the sand, waves lapping on the shore, taking deep breaths. It doesn’t entirely remove the stress but it does help reset a balance. How do you stabilize a chaotic time in life?

Words cannot express how full my 💜 is, getting to hang out with my niece & her family. We played in the hammock, hide & seek, tried to feed wood chips to the ducks, “They’re ’chips’ Auntie Kathy!” & explored new depths at the beach.

Another original cottage bites the dust. Decades of memories, laughter, BBQs & bonfires. Notice the family photos? So many of these tiny places are being knocked down when owners pass & the kids aren’t interested. Mine would likely meet the same fate. Progress right?

Yes! The only time grass needs watering is when seeds/sod are newly planted. We have to get over our aversion to brown lawns. Plant drought resistant native species instead!
