218 members signed the discharge petition to force a vote to extend ACA tax credits.

If Speaker Johnson refuses to bring forth the vote, he’s telling the American people loud and clear that rising health care costs are acceptable to him.

Reposting as i’m heartsick AGAIN thinking about the students at #Brown, especially those who already survived a school shooting

WHY ARE WE OK WITH SHOOTING KIDS??????
The text you never want to get. From my daughter, while hiding in the school library during a sniper attack on her school, three years ago. She wasn’t physically hurt, but others were. She still lives with it. We all live with it

My youngest was six at the time and looking at her sweet face and those of her classmates I couldn’t fathom how Sandy Hook was possible. And then acceptable.

In 2022 her school was attacked by a sniper. No one was killed, but all were forever changed.

We are brutalizing this generation 💔

📖We are often asked where you can find reliable vaccine information. It breaks our hearts to say it, but it’s no longer at CDC

The vaccine integrity project is a great source & has compiled recommendations from medical societies into 1 place for easier reference:

I heard the vile content that the cyber attackers managed to stream out today. Hateful, racist, and demeaning.

Public radio is for the people, and a place where many otherwise unheard voices can join the public discourse.

➡️ Support #WPFW or your own local #PublicRadio station(s) TODAY
❗WPFW was hit with another cyber attack. "This is not the first time a Pacifica station has been under attack...We know there are many more of you out there of conscience that believe in the mission of Jazz and Justice, then there are those that would work to silence us."

Those Nuremberg Trials are gonna be something
1. This is not what fog of war means.
2. There is no war
3. He's trying to distance himself from murders he had direct responsibility over
4. All I can think of when I hear this phrase now is Elon Musk complaining that he hates chess because it has no fog of war.
Q: So you didn't see any survivors after that first strike?

HEGSETH: I did not personally see survivors. The thing was on fire. This is called the fog of war. This is what you in the press don't understand. You sit in your air conditioned offices and plant fake stories in the Washington Post

Must’ve been caulk Sunday!

I too, like a real single mom, recaulked my sink sink, and part of my clawfoot tub
Not too bad, but definitely calling a plumber to fix the ancient leaking washing machine
I like doing things myself. Learned it from my dad.
I have an announcement.
I have, like a real man, recaulked and resealed my shower.
I will never, ever do this again, and the next time I will pay a plumber or handyman, even if it has to be in gold bullion, to do it.

Perfect birthday 🌞💗

* Dinner at home with my two older kids
* Facetimed the youngest (away at school)
* Promptly devoured Apple Birthday Pie (homemade by kids)

It’s been a year for all of us - but I hope I will never be too jaded to appreciate the beauty and love I have

"Things happen" sometimes, like when you walk into an embassy to apply for your marriage license while your bride-to-be waits outside, but then you get bonesawed to pieces for having exercised freedom of speech as an US-based journalist and have to be carried out in a series of suitcases.
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

They know that comms and policy are critical. That’s why they muzzled us starting Jan 20, and many of us were DOGE’d by March. For three+ months, my team and I were belittled, forced to dismantle years of good work, and prevented from putting out any comms to the public. My heart still hurts.
