I've wanted to visit Hengoed for a while now, to walk across the viaduct from the former High Level platforms. Originally part of the Taff Vale Extension, it now forms part of the poetically named National Cycle Network Route 47. 150245 is seen in the still active low level platforms.
A nice touch on the 455 Farewell, with the cabside decals.

Currently at the most used station I had yet to visit. To be honest, I thought Cambridge would have a more impressive station than this.

Thoroughly recommend the Postal Museum's Mail Rail Tunnel Walks. Really knowledgeable and enthusiastic guides and a chance to get close up to the original trains and platforms at Mount Pleasant.

Not sure about the significance of the traffic cone on the canopy at Kirby Cross. No parking next to the live wires perhaps?

Nice floral display at Alresford (Essex) for the Railway 200 celebrations. 1866 is the year the station opened.

Surely the smallest station on the Valley Lines, or the South Wales Metro as I assume we call them now, is Gilfach Fargoed. 231011 has deposited me here on the November sunshine on 08/11/2025.

Good news for the Waterways in Gloucestershire, I can remember the Canal trust fundraising 50 years or so ago, so it's slow progress, but at least it's progress. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I never thought I would see a train at Cirencester Town, let alone one that used to work there regularly before closure. Shout-out to the Cirencester history festival, and the Swindon & Cricklade Railway for making it happen.

I also called at Ravensthorpe which is shortly to close until at least 2027. Work is underway to realign the junction and the station will be resited to serve all tracks.

I decided to pay a visit to Cottingley while it remains open. Work on the nearby White Elephant station has been paused for over a year, although White Rose does look substantially complete from passing trains.
