With all happening, globally & locally, our lives can feel very overwhelmed. We can feel that the weight is too great & there is nothing that we, as individuals, can do. This quote is attributed to Morgan Freeman. It may sound naive, but I believe it’s true & powerful. Kindness is A Path Forward.

Understanding & trying to manage adult pain is bad enough; not knowing what to do to help manage a child’s pain is unacceptable & heartbreaking. We need to do everything we can to manage & support children’s pain. Effective pediatric pain management is A Path Forward. #NPAW2025 #PrioritizePain

As I sit here on a Sunday afternoon, I find myself wondering how many people make hospital or military corners when making their beds? For those that don’t, you may mark this day on your calendar as the day you learned that you are painfully wrong for not doing so. #hospitalcorners #militarycorners

How many health care providers know a Mr Smith (or a Mrs Smith) but yet to point out the Supported Self Management Door to him/her?

Will you point out that IMPORTANT Door TODAY ❓

The Government of British Columbia's proclamation of World Mitochondrial Disease Awareness Week is the only province or territory to do so. I would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank them for being a leader in recognizing the critical importance of raising awareness for mitochondrial disease.

A week ago, my wife & I returned home after a 14,100 km trip across Canada. It was incredible and the only way to see the beauty of Canada. Today, as I took the dog for her walk, I stopped at the park near our house to appreciate the beauty of our small part of Canada.

Persistent pain awareness is critical; too many healthcare systems and providers are ignorant of the complexity of chronic pain. This leads to patient dismissiveness and treatment abandonment, which leads to increased suffering. We must do better.

Today’s A Path Forward post is about adaptation. When living with chronic pain and/or other long-term health conditions, life is about adapting. Adaptation is finding a way forward during difficult times.

Happy Canada Day. Canadians are well known for our reservedness, politeness, & kindness; some of the foundational traits that make us Canadian. We are also very patriotic, in a quieter way than some nations. We let our support of our fellow Canadians & those of other nations speak for itself.
