Dear President Obama,
I saw in your statement you said "Israeli families" & "the people of Gaza."
Palestinians have families, too.
This kind of language contributes to dehumanization. Dehumanization is part of what caused so many to stay silent as 20,000 children were killed in this genocide.
I've sat with wonderful Palestinian families from Gaza. They look at their children just like we look at ours - with all the love & hope in the world.

I think it's a child's worldview that everything lasts forever, that things stay special forever, that you can love and appreciate them forever, that how you feel now and what you cherish are locked in stasis. Because you haven't learned yet that things are special because they aren't forever

I'll save them a whole lot of fees right now and give them the best possible legal advice for free: just shut up. Most of the time, if you're wondering if a situation requires you to be speaking, the answer is no. What you should be saying is nothing. It is amazing how widely applicable this is.

I have to imagine that the iconography of the motorcycles and the popularity of the arcade game did a lot to inflate its place in popular culture in a way that the original movie probably couldn't have done on its own, even if it does have some cool ideas and some effects that were... almost there

Cognition is like strength. Use is required to not just gain, but maintain. The more thinking and cognitive work we offload, the duller we become as a result.

It's like deciding you'll use a mobility scooter without need and then figuring out a year later that you can no longer walk.

I've tried to talk sense into people who act this way online. (Usually young, usually queer.) No matter how much progress I feel like I'm making with them, they have never once ended up admitting they were wrong, and they usually dig their heels in even harder.
