In Springfield I wandered, where Dr. Seuss was born and raised, 📚
Admiring historic buildings that left me amazed. 🏛️
I rode the fare-free PVTA buses, my joy knew no bound,🚌
Then met a friend from social media in person, good vibes all around. 🤓

So sad to learn of the passing of State Rep. Hoa Nguyen. Even though she was dying, she traveled to Salem to help pass a transportation bill for our state.

She was a real one, a true champion for justice, and will be fondly remembered and missed. Condolences to those closest to her on their loss.

Anyone have any pictures/videos of the new LCD screens that were installed on some San Diego trolleys recently?

What about the students and educators who rely on RIPTA to get to school? The service cuts are impacting so many riders. How can we ensure the academic success of students if they are left with unreliable transit service? Stop throwing them under the bus.

Behind every improved test score is a student showing up, a teacher inspiring, and a family supporting. Rhode Island’s students are moving forward — and we’ll keep giving them every chance to succeed. #Learn365RI

Same thing happened in Philadelphia when SEPTA cuts landed.

Wild how a governor can claim to prioritize education and having kids not missing class... except if it requires him to make it a budget priority, in which case, never mind I guess?

So frustrating to see how RIPTA service cuts are leaving so many riders behind. A Providence teacher raised concerns about buses passing her students, and RIPTA explained it’s due to overcrowding caused by the cuts. Stop throwing riders under the bus, @govdanmckee.bsky.social! 🙏🏽Have you no shame? 🚨🚌
Response on X from RIPTA: Thanks for letting us know. We're sorry to hear this happened. The likeliest reason the bus didn’t stop is due to overcrowding, a result of the service reductions that went into effect on Saturday, September 27.

In my experience riding fare-free transit, removing fares speeds up the boarding process. Ridership often increases when fares are waived. And without fare collection, dwell times drop and on-time performance tends to improve.

Hi from Massachusetts!👋🏽🚌

Pioneer Valley: PVTA B7 (Springfield-Wilbraham)

Merrimack Valley: MeVa Transit 24 (Lowell-Lawrence)

Boston: MBTA 28 (Ruggles-Mattapan)

South Coast: SRTA 9 (Fall River-New Bedford)

Some of the highest-ridership routes in their respective systems!! They’re all FARE-FREE!!

Where’s the funding from, you may ask??

In Massachusetts, all 15 regional transit authorities are currently fare-free through June 2026, thanks to surplus funding from the Fair Share Amendment (aka millionaire’s tax!)

The response above sounds so bleak. Rhode Island's top elected officials leaving RIPTA riders stranded like... 🫠

We love fast, frequent & free service!👏🏽🚌

Visited Springfield, MA yesterday & rode PVTA. Route B7 (Springfield-Wilbraham) operates every 15 mins.!

In addition, all the regional transit agencies in MA are currently fare-free thru June 2026 thanks to funding generated by the millionaire’s tax!
