Passed away yesterday: Moroccan journalist, translator, and poet Saïd Ahid. Worked for the Moroccan dailies "Al-Ittihad Al-Ichtiraki" and "Libération". Active member of the Moroccan Writers' Union. Translated several books into Arabic, including Leïla Bahsaïn's first novel "Le Ciel sous nos pas".

Prof. Stuart Schaar passed away on January 5 in Marrakech. A distinguished historian of the Middle East & North Africa. Professor Emeritus at @brooklyncollege.bsky.social. He published an intellectual biography of Eqbal Ahmad and coedited three volumes on the Middle East and Islamic world.
