The FFXIV side of the MHWilds collab feels a little bare but the fight more than makes up for it. Also doesn't feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall for forty minutes like a certain MHWilds collab fight............

Started a new small project in Godot and decided to study spriting exteriors, which mainly consisted of staring at Deltarune and Mother 3 exteriors to figure things out. Not... entirely original but it's a start...

I forgot how bad Steam Input gets when trying to export anything as a template. Not very intuitive workaround either.

(For the record, you have to restart steam afterwards...)

that's actually quite interesting to see, now it's made me wonder if it's possible to emulate using steam input. it probably is possible, i've done a weird keyboard layout through steam input before using the deck's trackpads but this looks less painful to use.

action/platformer speedruns: yea we have to do 100 frame perfect tricks to clip through all these sections and it's all skill based and precise practice and speed

old jrpg speedruns: WE HAVE TO TORTURE THE GAME BY RIPPING ITS SOUL OUT AND REPLACING IT WITH DR MARIO TO FORCE IT TO DO OUR BIDDING

I ended up building it in a distrobox on Bazzite, which just so happened to have the dependencies on hand (not that I'm complaining, honestly), after a tip in the terminal told me of its existence.

Not difficult to build, just dependencies are a pain to get otherwise...

I figured it out eventually, turns out I had to use a distrobox, which ironically one of them is called 'bazzite-arch' to build the game in... and it had all the dependencies in there.

And it works. Oh good lord it works, now I can adjust the game to my liking and have a Linux build on hand.

For context, I spent the past few hours creating virtualboxes because I'm too lazy (and ill!!) to use a usb drive only to get a small glimmer of hope only to have it snatched away.

Is it a skill issue? I dunno, probably, but I barely have enough energy to spend doing such a task right now.
