My summary of #SpaceX #Starship testing.

IFT11 was nearly perfect.

They (still) have many more tests to do. Very many more flights needed before stage 2 is "rapidly reusable".

Stage 1 already is reusable, but it will face large changes/upgrades for IFT12.

Yes, today. Super heavy launches 2...11 have worked well vs engines

N1 failed 100%.

Reusable Dragon2 can take up to 7 astronauts to ISS.

And the falcon family can lift far greater loads than SShuttle could.

SShuttle was not affordably reusable. It should have been replaced in 1986.

The Space Shuttle was a fatal mistake.
It had no escape methods in case a booster fails.
SRBs shook insulation and tiles off at every launch and therefore every re-entry was a big risk.
It could not be fixed to become safe.

They also paid Boeing, their old contractor since Saturn 5. They cost a lot more and failed.
We do not yet know all what the Moon can offer. Initially it is the first place to search for building material, enabling humanity to access the rest of the galaxy.
I think there should be international activity there.

The plan to build a base/laboratory there is good idea.

For the next 20...50 years we should not hurry to Mars. Just learn to live in space around earth and on the Moon & use our resources smartly.
NASA has been trying.
So far SpaceX has been superior.
We really must not give China a monopoly on the Moon.

You are misinformed about spacex.
It is the other way around.
Japan is trying to start doing the same SpaceX has done for years.
They are 10+ years behind SpaceX.
Good points overall.

The US is 50+ years ahead on the moon race.

The next step is to build the base before China paints the space rock red.

But it definitely is not ideal if a HLS is 52 meters tall.

Perhaps more sane for cargo flight, after a level & solid landing site is found.
I think the sideways movement has played a role in those cases where the lander has tipped over.

They need to practice and be prepared to relight their engines if the risk of tipping appears.

And if the computer cannot do it, the crew has the means to fly HLS by hand.
+ sure, I'm not going to space at the current rate.

But I would consider a role as a Mars test article after I'm 80 (y2051), if it becomes possible. And I do not need a return flight.

There might be some kind of base/laboratory on Mars in 2050 or so.

Well, it was planned to land on top of the sea and fall to its side.

When a rocket falls it explodes.

They expect up to 9 more "explosions" on water before they plan to recover "every" rocket.

/me waiting anyone else beside SpaceX reuse their orbital rocket, not holding breath.
