Hello! 👋 I talk on here about my professional work (video games UI/UX) and stuff I'm playing.
I also draw games fanart, as well as original art of witches and magical girls.

I'm a fan of Final Fantasy (especially XIV), Pokemon, and indie games, among other things.

They would laugh, like I was being childish. I would say "I was eleven years old when Pokemon Red & Blue launched in the UK." I would watch their expressions change as they mentally crumbled into dust. 😛

When I first broke into the games industry in my early 20s, I had to explain multiple times to the various senior coworkers mentoring me that Pokemon was a massive inspiration for me wanting to make art and games.

Oop. Little bit of wrist pain this morning after all the PC building shenanigans yesterday (from screws, wires, and heavy lifting). Gonna have to take it easy with drawing and prioritize my contract UI/UX work.

It takes a lot of work, but at least on a Windows PC this is doable. Whereas my Switch 2 wanted to wipe my Switch 1 behind it, despite not having enough storage space for my bajillion games.

There is a very silly thing that new tech wants to do, now, where it gives you these all-or-nothing options during setup on whether to copy over everything and nuke your old device, or copy over nothing and start with a clean slate.
Neither, please! I want to copy only some things and leave others!

Phew! New PC is finally up and running to an acceptable standard! 🎉

I can make art on it, I can do freelance UI/UX on it, I can play games on it. (With much better perf than before, I might add!)

My character prefs for FFXIV and all my art program settings are even copied over nicely.

Thiiiiis. I guess if you need to boil my identity down, cis het woman fits as a surface read, but there are nuances and exceptions. I get that many people find the labels helpful or empowering, but queerness can't always be defined, and it shouldn't have to be.

Not to mention all the amazing people I've worked with in game dev who I get to stay in touch with. I can also make connections with awesome artists who I've never even met IRL!

I immigrated to the US as a teenager and am still able to talk to and see updates from my childhood friends in England via our posts online. We're in our late 30s now and an ocean apart, with entirely different social circles, but I still get to see how they're doing and I think that's cool. ❤️

There's also this take I keep hearing that goes: "well maybe if you all had appreciated their art they wouldn't have gone full fascist".
It's gross to put the responsibility on the common people when some autocrat has a tantrum about not getting the attention they wanted. The entitlement.

So I'm building a new PC, and the liquid cooling fan has a display that can be set to show GIFs...

....FFXIV install says it's gonna take 7 hours, though. The bright bright blue LEDs in this machine face my bed, I'm sure that's not gonna be a problem at all.

(I can and will turn them off in the config app, it's just funnier to imagine them blaring at my face all night. I make my own fun!)
