My humble opinion on anime:
80s and 90s anime is built different. It just LOOKS better.
However, we're going through an era of great stories right now.
I think "my perfect anime" would be if something airing currently were drawn with the colors/shading/style used in the 80s/90s

I bought three manga yesterday
One was a vol 1-3 omnibus of a series from the 90s that has been recommended to me since I started reading manga. MAL has a high rating for it.
The other two were blind purchases because they looked to suit my taste. Both have <7 MAL ratings LMFAO

My taste in anime, games, etc is... complicated. With almost anything I consume, I can see all the good and all the bad, and either love it or hate it. Ultimately, I think it's good to strike a careful balance in critique and praise, and so most things would be average. And yet I still 'enjoy' them

I watched a few episodes of this because Quest for the Best convinced me, lol. I'm not entirely sold on the friendship angle yet. Ironic because I thought THAT would interest me, rather than karuta itself. Yet the karuta stuff is now what I find most interesting about it
I watched a few episode of Chihayafuru and now I have a powerful urge to add a karuta-like game in my own fantasy world, but with my own world's poems and symbolism and lore.
