Just finished a list of essay collection named: Can socialists be happy?
This was my 4th reading of Orwell and got word-shaken by his thoughts all 4 times.
Strangely, I have not read the famous 1984 yet, but is planned at a point.
Great article, and a really complex word view
As Matthew Sitman points out — like @zohrankmamdani (and MLK, etc) ‘1984’ author George Orwell was a Democratic Socialist who fought for workers.

He also opposed communism because the two are not the same things and words have meanings.
