God is dead. God remains dead. And it is we who have killed him, Charlie Brown.
My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius, father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife, and I will have my vengeance, Charlie Brown, in this life or the next.

Once again starting to write a book in the only sensible way, viz, by thinking up a title and then working backwards from there to design the cover, construct the page layout, and make some key choices about the typography. Eventually I will begin to fill in the content. I am a very rational person.

Meanwhile, in addition to all the people mystified by Trump’s reaction, we have a related crowd who are like “I’m really puzzled that this guy—who recently got himself elected Mayor of New York as a 34 year old socialist Muslim—approached his meeting with Trump in a politically savvy manner”.

I do love how so many MAGAs do not seem to have the faintest idea of what Trump likes, or what it means to have your own center of gravity, or be super-charming in person. Have they ever wondered why Trump looks so bored and irritable most of the time he has to hang out with them?

And it has indeed come to pass.
Trump in a room with a very charismatic person results in like half a day of Trump agreeing with everything that person said, so this has the potential to be very, very funny.
Trump says he’s meeting with “communist” Mamdani at the White House on Friday

Frank O’Connor holding forth on and in Cork in 1961 with a BBC interviewer wanting to grasp The Provincial Mind. Good footage from Shandon St (obligatory urchins, shawlies, etc) and middle-class Sunday Best outside St Mary’s, with brylcreemed chancers, a suspicious lad in a Christians blazer, etc.

Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."

Your first thought on scrolling down is “Oh good lord”. Your second thought is “This has to be a bit, right?” And—if you have any relevant experience—your third thought is “No, even if it’s a bit, people actually are genuinely like this.”
