I have a routine oncology appointment this morning that I'm hella nervous about only because I haven't had a cancer appointment in a while and I've gotten used to not going to the hospital regularly.

We're still a week out from October but the pink ribbon ads have already started cluttering my social media feeds.

I started Invisalign yesterday and I must say I've been very focused on the end result and had therefore forgotten how much orthodontic work sucks ass.

Pretty egregious error from this book: The authors say Swedish deaths fell by 2.3% during the pandemic, proving that the country's lax lockdown strategy worked.
But they misread their source: Mortality is only down if you remove the COVID deaths.

I chaperoned a field trip with 6th graders to a minor league baseball game today, so my lunch was a hot dog, a Capri Sun and dippin dots. At 10:45am.

Took the kid to see the Minecraft movie and it was so dumb but also an absolute delight if you've played the game.

I have a lot to say about the resurgent young men / masculinity discourse but for now will confine myself to:
I wish I knew how to convince teenage boys/young men is how little of the world actually requires or even invites the hypermisogynist "tough guy" aesthetic

🧵 THREAD: A federal whistleblower just dropped one of the most disturbing cybersecurity disclosures I’ve ever read.
He's saying DOGE came in, data went out, and Russians started attempting logins with new valid DOGE passwords
Media's coverage wasn't detailed enough so I dug into his testimony:

Tonight an unbelievable **34,000 people** gathered for our Denver rally to take on billionaires and win our country back.
This was the largest political gathering in Denver since Obama in 2008.
Also bigger than the 2024 DNC.
And the largest ever rally in Bernie’s career (and obviously, mine too).
