Downpour
It is a rainy rainy day outside, and I plan to spend it inside. When the weather is overcast and cold I prefer it if it rains because at least that adds some ambience. We have many more days like this to get through over the next couple of seasons, and I have already switched over to my warmer clothes and have broken out the weighted blanket for my bed. Now the goal is to be as cozy and peaceful as possible while keeping the bleak depression at bay.

Shutdown
Sometimes the days stand still and you're left in a period of waiting, nothing of note occurring for hours, days, or weeks at a time. Just killing time until something changes. Go through the motions, feel nothing, remember nothing, ignore the way the dullness and the aches gradually get worse. Just wait. What is coming is unknown, but eventually something will change, somehow.

Smudged windows
I wish I could clean the window easily, but it's a second story window and I am not going to climb up a ladder to scrub the window from 15 feet off the ground with my back problems. Trying to balance on a ladder as my legs go numb sounds like something out of a stress nightmare.

For years now I've exclusively used Twitter via the notifications tab, because all I want is a chronological feed with no/minimal ads. That's what I get, so I don't see whatever shitheads Twitter is recommending I follow or repetitive ads or weird algo-slop.

Tbh the main difference in content between Bluesky and Twitter is that I see more Nazi shit here because people love posting screenshots of what Nazis are saying on Twitter. I've got my Twitter set up just right to avoid that shit, so I rarely ever see it over there.

Deceptively bright

While it's been sunnier lately it's also getting colder. I broke out the weighted blanket for my bed this week, and it's officially hoodie season now. When we turned on the heater for the first time this season a couple weeks ago the house filled with that hot, dusty smell of a heater that's been dormant for months. That smell always brings back strong memories of childhood, as I grew up in an old house that had an old, musty heating system. On winter mornings I would stay in bed until I smelled that hot, dusty smell in the room, and then I'd get up with a blanket wrapped around me and go sit on the heating vent to keep myself warm while my parents made breakfast. Every time I catch a whiff of that dusty heater smell, it brings me right back to those cold winter mornings when I was very small and just trying to stay warm.

Wearing out from the inside out
I'm feeling sick today, but I don't know why. Some days I understand what's affecting me and why I end up having flare-ups of my symptoms, but other times it's a complete mystery. All I can do is keep everything low-key for now, wait for time to pass, and hopefully things will clear up before too much longer.
