As someone who has spent over 35 years trying to explain that violence is inherent to policing only to have most people be OK with this, I could be excused if I decided to just give up. But I'm not. I knew we would be where we are today. I still think that we do not have to live like this.

seeing how conservatives see george floyd as a prophet for black people (and progressives at large) that deserves to be disrespected at all costs, i wouldn't be surprised if this was their way to take revenge on the city for the 2020 protests.

Exactly. Criminalization isn’t a side issue, it’s the mechanism. Once the state normalizes punishment over policy, authoritarianism doesn’t need to announce itself. It just proceeds.

It's not just social media. Looks like visitors to the US from Europe and other countries that are part of the visa waiver program will have to submit an enormous amount of data about themselves and their families, including DNA, if proposed new rules are accepted
