Most octopuses live on the sea floor, but the Football Octopus (Ocythoe tuberculata) is one of the few octopus species that lives in the open ocean.

The females of this species have a gas filled swim bladder, which is common for fish but unique among octopuses.

The mantle is an ellipsoid shape and is covered in a bunch of bumps, which are larger towards the bottom. The octopus is a reddish/pink colour on the top, and white on the bottom. The water is greenish.

While I already have a post for #OCTOtober, here's a bonus of some octopus shitposts from personal collection

Octopuses tend to be solitary, but the Friendly Octopus (Octopus laqueus) is one of the exceptions.

Although they prefer to be on their own, they are willing to tolerate other octopuses if it means they can have a den. I guess even cephalopods have to worry about having roommates...

It has its papillae raised, and it is beige with some dark orange, and it has some sea foam green, especially on its mantle and papillae. The rock is covered with some grey stuff, like algae covered in sand. There is some taller rocks to the left.
