A Berry's Bobtail Squid (Euprymna berryi) swimming above the sea floor. The photo is a bit blurry. The bobtail squid is quite small. Its arms are tucked together and pointing downward. It is mostly black, but you can see some blue and green iridescent bits under its black chromatophores. You can see its shadow on the sand below.

An Atlantic Pygmy Octopus (Octopus joubini) in a plastic container for observation. It has a orangish brown colour. Its mantle is leaning slightly back. Six of its arms are pointing downward, touching the sandy bottom of the container, making it look like it is walking. One arm is slightly back, touching the side of the container. Its last arm is is pointing forward and curled at the end. Overall, it looks like the octopus is doing a funky dance move.

Most photos of pygmy squids you see are close up, so you can get a good look at these tiny squids.

But when you get these zoomed out shots, you can see how silly they look with their tiny bodies glued to a sea plant, just waiting for a meal to swim by.
A Two-toned Pygmy Squid (Idiosepius pygmaeus) glued onto a sea plant sticking out of the sandy sea floor. The whole photo is on a 45 angle. There are two other plants on the left edge of the photo, but otherwise there aren't more plants of the same type around. The pygmy squid is attached by the mantle, about two thirds up the plant. The pygmy squid has its mantle pointing down with its head bend a 90 degree angle with its limbs pointed up at a 90 degree angle. The pygmy squid is translucent, but it has some greenish yellow on one side of the mantle (the way away from the plant) and it covered in small black or brown chromatophores. The plant looks like single blade or possibly fern shaped.

A juvenile Lesser Two-spot Octopus (Octopus bimaculoides) in a clear plastic container. It is quite small, probably only a few centimetres in total length. The water is cloudy and there is a pointy shell on the left. The octopus is close to the wall, so you can see the light brown underside of its arms and mouth area. Its arms are going in different directions and wavy in different waved. You can see its two eye on the top, and it has a small, fleshy horn above each eye. Its head is dark brown, but it might just be a shadow. You cannot see its mantle. To the right, is a person holding a black phone, probably to take a picture.

Bigfin squids (genus Magnapinna) have a reputation for being eldritch looking creatures, but that's mostly from some low res footage where they are just floating with their arms dangling.

When you get see them swimming, they look like a regular squid shaped squid, if you ignore their noodley arms.

Its head, mantle and upper arms look like a typical squid, but it has two massive fins that are much larger than its body, and its lower arms are long, thin tendrils that are several times the length of the rest of the squid. Its lower arms look like strings dragging behind. The squid is a pale beige with white lower arms and slightly translucent fins. The seafloor is a mix of sediment and sediment covered rocks.
