In this species, males can sometimes have asymmetrical arm like this, with one much larger than the other. This is actually the first time I have ever seen it!

None of the guidebooks I own show a photo of this condition, so if my ID is correct, I think this might be a pretty rare shot 🦐✨

A plea from an editor:

postdocs & grad students who want to review manuscripts, please (!) have an online presence with your current email. I try to solicit reviews from ECRs, but we all move a lot, and it's hard to know if we'll be able to reach you at the email address on your last paper 🧪🌍

A bustling seafloor scene from the #taleof2canyons expedition: “We studied how these canyons can facilitate such incredible biodiversity,” said Chief Scientist Dr. Silvia Ines Romero. “What are the mechanisms — the currents and the chemistry — that support all of this life?”

Why do women leave vertebrate palaeontology?

A review of vertebrate palaeontologists from 2018 found out, that the retention of men in the field, is almost at 100%, while for women, who already were under-represented, mere 30% stay in the field. It's not leaky pipeline, it's a running tap.

Everything sucks, but I am organizing an art market.

I’m not gonna stop organizing art markets because everything sucks. That would make it suck even more. Who would do that?!

So today while hanging out with my cousins on the couch I made a poster for that art market.

We live in St Paul, Minnesota; TONIGHT reports coming from multiple sources that ICE is staging in our grocery store’s old parking lot, going door to door in adjacent neighborhoods weapons drawn.

At this point the Civil War movie seems more reality, and current events are the fiction. SMH.
