Alex Kozul-Wright: "As total debt in developing countries has risen to record high, there is frustration that existing frameworks, dominated by Western governments have exerted undue influence over repayment policies".

South Africa’s G20 presidency: diplomatic victory, but a weak final declaration
The G20 2025 declaration issued in Johannesburg will be just empty words unless the endorsements are turned into action.

After years of research and trials, the WHO this year recommended the first new tool to fight malaria in decades: spatial repellents. They last up to a year and they could help fight malaria as well as dengue and other diseases - and protect refugees.

COMMON on the COP of post-truth: drive.google.com/file/d/1_C30... Don't fully agree, but certainly the read of the day. Hadn't heard about 'toxic positivity' : ) And 'empty multilateralism' is indeed an interesting concept for our dire days.

I certainly agree that these relative "victories" for multilateralism (well, don't know about GF - bit weird, US contribution there) might actually jeopardize what's really needed (soon). Eg: Global Public Investment, or Rockström's way forward on the climate emergency.

COP: not dead yet. Global Fund: not dead yet. G20 (minus US): not dead yet. Three (very mitigated) 'victories for multilateralism' this weekend :) #glasshalffull #ahum

"What we really need for our politicians to respond effectively to the next potential pandemic are agile leadership, smart decision-making, flexibility, humility and trustworthiness. How does one build those into a political system?" One billion dollar question these days & not just re pandemics :)
