Democrats will criticize ICE, then stay mum about this happening in their local police departments. Not that police need any help being bad, but ICE culture will touch every sub-acronym agency in policing. It'll become increasingly hard to criticize one without the other.
This is the context you have to keep in mind when you see these people hyperventilating about addressing this system. This is what they are demanding we preserve literally at any and every cost.
