Every season is iced coffee season if you’re not a coward
maaaajor photo of our mayor from @alexkrales.bsky.social in which we learn Mamdani is an iced-coffee-in-winter guy

HUGE win for that community, congrats!!!

(thought it was dunkin, which stopped me in my tracks, but no I don’t think the straw is the right shade of orange)

i say this with kindness: do not ever tell me anything ever again
Unfortunately there’s more to being a HC than just running an offense.

Keep the list rolling:

- Sentimental Value? Norwegians = socialism
- Marty Supreme? Too many Jewish people
- Hamnet? Theater is gay
- The Secret Agent? Too Hispanic (even though it’s from Brazil)

So I guess they’re holding out for… F1? With all the Europeans? I guess maybe Train Dreams? Bugonia?
What’s funny about the Oscar race this year is the CHUDs are mad at One Battle After Another because it’s “woke” and makes fun of white supremacists but they can’t derail it from winning everything because then the big winner would be SINNERS which is woker and makes more fun of white supremacists

“They’re all 12 years old” theory currently reigning champion
yeah, just out of interest, how many people choose the pen on the right for real work or art? See a lot of them in professional workplaces, do you?

Never forget that the original articulations of all of these ideas were a *diagnosis*, not a recommendation.
Very bleakly funny that circa-2012-2015 conservatives have been totally vindicated in their arguments against the postmodern turn in parts of academia, the embrace of ‘ways of knowing’, rejection of bureaucratic rationality, etc.…because they embraced all those things and it was indeed a disaster

Deeply embarrassing. Some thoughts are inside thoughts.
I was asked what I thought now that #pluribus has reached seven episodes.
I’m not seeing any of the liberal subtext some folks are seeing. But I’ve learned to watch the show by fast forwarding through the long, artsy stretches where no one speaks.
There were exactly 2 lines of interesting dialogue.

I did the full Barbenheimer at the @davistheater.bsky.social and it was great. Being in a packed theater at 11 am for Oppenheimer, followed by about 90 minutes at a bar around the corner packed with people wearing pink, and capped with a rowdy screening of Barbie.

Movies! Bringing people together!
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

I’m no tech genius but what’s buried in here is that this vulnerability is uniquely bad because it runs through the AI tools they’re forcing down our throats.

The solution, then, seems easy: stop forcing AI down our throats.

haven’t seen ROS or Solo but this seems like a pretty ball-knowing list from Pritzker, particularly if he volunteered the name “Star Wars” rather than “A New Hope”

Shout out to cough drops. If cough drops are secretly bad for some reason, I don’t care, don’t tell me, I’ll be mad if you tell me.

In case there was any doubt, the actual list is also embarrassing all on its own. Just a bunch of If Books Could Kill style airport book nonsense and Wealth of Nations (which he definitely hasn’t read)

So-called “small talk” is not aimless, and people who claim to hate it are often interminable boors. Engaging in small talk with folks - friends, strangers, people you’re working with for the first time, service industry employees - is an essential responsibility for making societies feel connected
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?
