As always, this looks amazing. I’m watching the design commentary video now!

Before this goes to print, I did wanna let you know that “Breathe” has an E at the end when it’s the verb. Otherwise it’s like taking a breath. Just btw!

Very nearly at a playable alpha version for Tech Psevon, my mech combat game (skirmish game? I gotta review my terms).

I’m excited! It’s gonna be so cool testing it for the first time and watching everything break!

Oh what a day! What a lovely day!
I’m so glad it brought you the positivity it brings me! 💜 when I get some extra funds I’m definitely coming back!
I don’t need the compliment, but I did want to let you know that that custom piece you did for me is one of my most prized possessions. Holding that makes me feel that everything I make is real, has weight…and is worth something. 💜

Reposting this because I'd really love to see a Zephyr AP, and if any of y'all would make one, I'd follow it obsessively and share the hell out of it to everyone I know.
Someone should make a Zephyr AP. If you're that someone and you want me to facilitate that, DM me
Yeah that’s been tough. I like the smaller numbers, because it makes everything smoother. But then you only have 3 damage or 4 damage, not 30 or 31 or 32 or… the variance, as you say. On the upside, when the most health you can have is 30, the big boss ability that does 666 damage REALLY feels bad 😂
😂 math is brutal. It’s funny how sometimes a value seems right. Like it looks good, sounds good, makes sense. And then you do the math and you’re sitting there like “well ok maybe I AM stupid.”
Well don’t freak out yet! Maybe it’ll be in a sequel article. That’s advanced game design, I think.
Yeah, “guess and suffer” 😂 no but this is actually a very helpful post.
don’t call people bitches out of nowhere because they believe structure and rules are important for games. Because they are. And don’t, and this is big, then self-victimize when someone says you can be passionate without being rude. You like rule of cool, so don’t act uncool by doing that.
structure. And the rules of a game inform what the game is trying to do. If you ignore the rules all the time, you’re no longer playing the game, you’re just Playing. Which is fine. Do that. Have the best time ever with your friends. But make sure you’re playing with people that enjoy that. And
Dude that sweet talks others. They spec for it, take abilities and feats that help, and another player just says they wanna do a thing and the rules don’t say it but people agree it’s neat, so the GM allows it.

Not everyone has fun with freeform. Some people need structure. Some people ENJOY
for them, and their fantasy is doing the combo thing, and then another player just smooth talks their way into doing exactly what they wanted to, but without the rules supporting it. Think about the player who’s really shy, not great with words. Their fantasy happens to be being a charismatic
or ignoring those rules in favor of what you or someone else thinks would be cooler can destroy that understanding. Suddenly, the player that enjoys build crafting finds that they don’t wanna play as much, because they meticulously scrubbed the rules to find a neat interaction, because that’s fun
standing there with a hairbrush, watching everyone go buy forks from the fork store and telling people they can do whatever they want with their forks.

Or, if you don’t wanna read all of that, consider that rules create a shared understanding of play, and constantly (not on occasion) adjusting
tines just so so it flows through their hair more cleanly. They’ve clearly put care into it, and their friends use it. And someone else comes along, sees their fork, and goes “oh, finally I can brush my hair! I’ve seen people using forks before, I didn’t know you could customize them!” So you’re
that person is already doing fine hair brushing, and “I use a fork too and I love it! I’m passionate about hair brushing!” And you’re stuck because you are ALSO passionate about hair brushing. You made a hairbrush, a whole product for that thing. But they’ve painted their fork, they’ve twisted the
suited to their needs, and that would definitely improve the quality of their hair brushing. You want to pitch it, you want to tell them that while they’re allowed to do that, you have a better solution, and you think they should try it. And then someone comes flying in from the side yelling that
they’re just having fun. Which again, is not a bad thing. But imagine someone was using a fork to brush their hair, and you were selling hairbrushes. The tool they’re using TECHNICALLY fulfills their need, and they seem happy with it. But you have a product that you know is good, that’s better
space with the games we love!” And yes. And no. Because they already have it in their head that D&D as a system does what they want because they saw BLeeM do it with his friends, so why would they look into other things? And then we end up with people that don’t know the rules to a game because
