I’m always suspicious of people who go on about ‘traditions’ & ‘the old ways’
The reality is that many things we consider ‘traditional’ have relatively recent origins & the Victorians were adept at ‘reviving’ supposed traditions
That doesn’t diminish the belief or activity but consider the context
