A reminder: migrants do not have to be “grateful” or “successful” to be able to live safely. We are entitled to freedom regardless of whether other people like us.

My new book explores how emotions like pain, shame, and anxiety shape the ways we conceive rights and pursue reforms to protect LGBT people. I think/feel through how we might live with discomfort as we seek justice.

The NSW government will talk about the importance of maintaining “social cohesion” while perpetrating violence against citizens who seek to exercise their right to protest. This is horrific.
Video shows a man pinned to the ground as Australian police strike him repeatedly during an arrest. The man appears already subdued as blows continue. The incident occurred at protests in Sydney against Israeli President Isaac Herzog.

“The book encourages parents to put children in anti-affirmation medical and educational spaces, and to cut off loved ones who support their child's transition.”

Writing about trans youth as a product of “ideology” is dehumanising. This is the language of conversion practices. It’s child abuse.

Just finished reading this queer nostalgia-inducing treat by @sachacoward.bsky.social. This book illuminates how queerness shapes the monsters, fairies, mermaids, superheroes of our childhood and how our attachments to folk stories nourish our weird, fabulous, and curious ways. Check it out.

Today is the start of LGBT+ History Month in the UK. I joined some cool people a while ago to reflect on why queer and trans histories are rich and powerful. Our histories can illuminate the possibilities of activism and politics, as we work to build a better world.

Keep the conversation going.

Today is artist Derek Jarman’s birthday. A few years ago, my boyfriend and I took part in Jez Dolan’s re-creation of Jarman’s 1989 installation of two men in bed in a gallery. So, we got into bed (literally!) in the middle of Manchester Art Gallery and… chatted. We love taking up space with our gay.

My niece called me to tell me that she has to do a project at school about a “global issue” and she’s chosen to do it on LGBTQ+ rights. She needs a mentor for it and asked if I’d be hers. It’s so heartwarming to know our chats about equality (aka “gay propaganda”) over the years has had an impact. 🌈

This is chilling censorship. Universities in the US (and other parts of the world) are facing political attacks for offering subjects that challenge those in power. We must defend critical thought.

NEW: The Israeli military today accepted the Gaza Health Ministry's estimate of 70,000+ killed.

But in 2024, 62 Dems joined 207 Republicans to ban the State Dept. from citing the Ministry's stats.

Now, even Israel accepts them — perhaps because they realize what is feared: the toll is even higher.
