Their words circling
Hate is a tightening chain
Step away from it

#senryu #poetry

All the hate of the past weeks has hit me hard. As an autistic, nonbinary, light-skinned ndn, these rhetorics of hate hit my communities directly and purposefully. It is time to lean into safe spaces.

When the wind forgets
And the waves are all that remembers,
Water carrying all things
For all time,
May the truth ring true
In the settling of ripples
In the rise and fall of tides
May you see truth in your own reflection
And know it is carried
There
In the water of you

So much for “I’m going to try to post daily.” Still too busy. Plus emotionally exhausted and grieving/enraged with the impacts of fascism and hate and fear and the lack of care for schools shootings and people’s safety. I’m tired.

We are ever temporary
between
our collapsing bodies

We are ever momentary
between
our expanding breaths

We are living history
between
our changing presence

Fear and greed fuel propaganda
Threats to the enemy ripe with hate
Gathering community strikes terror
A war cry against just people
Ideological extremism oozes infection
Seeping into the eyes and hearts
Compassion dissipates in fear
It’s time to breathe

Cobwebs whisper harmonies
As footsteps leap the stairs
Traveling between then and when
Dust scuttling off the ankles
Where harmonies wait
Hoping no broom finds them
Perhaps they will billow for a bit
When the door opens
New melodies beyond the quiet

I have been BUSY! Good stuff, but much stuff. I don't write as much poetry when I'm not on here doing prompts though, so I'm hoping to keep posting at least one poem or a handful of prompts daily. No promises. Keep sharing good trouble and arts and all the awesome community care you give/receive!

Little brown acorn
Fallen whole upon my path
Pocket full of joy

#haiku #poetry #micropoetry

I found this today and kept forgetting it was in my pocket, which made for excitedly sharing the acorn multiple times today. Look at the acorn! So cute and perfect!

Protested on the holiday weekend between hot air balloons and driving kids around. Ran into friends. Contacted an arts group involved with political theater, poetry and music. Good times. Good times.

Summer disorients time
Blurs into heat and growth

Then in August
My walks take me
To searching leaves
For shades of red and yellow
Browning acorns on the branch

And so when September comes
I know when I am

Found in spring
Elder bushes dancing
Between pavement and buildings
From flower to fruit
How I wonder
At how well you feed this world
Bursts of berries darken
In summer sun and rain
Making welcome
For birds and weary walkers

Wytness obligated me
To holding mirrors
Speaking out
Against the racist drivel

Thought my skin
Meant safety
For their hate
They couldn’t see
My NDN, Hispanic roots

I saw them hide some hate
Unwitnessed by other wyts
Some only for wyts
Racism was clearly
A choice

I will cling to stone
As oak roots cling to cliff
Holding up mountains
Crumbling stone
Holding up oak trees
Tossing acorns
Down to the streams
And hungry mouths of the world

I will hold up mountains
As mountains hold me
And if it is only my nature to do so
Then we are kin
Holding
Holding

Covid vaccine recommendations and some approvals were rescinded by the CDC. So insurance and free vaccine programs for kids won’t cover them. Pharmacies will require a prescription for anyone under 65 to get the vaccine. This is going to be awful.
What to Know About Getting the COVID-19 Vaccine Right Now
Questions about the COVID-19 shot abound as federal recommendations shift and medical groups issue clashing guidance.
