DELTARUNE: CHAPTER 4 (2025)

Breathtakingly strong chapter. This is Deltarune firing on all possible cylinders - Chapter 4 is shocking, moving, tense, visually stunning, and full of pleasant surprises. It'll be hard for future chapters to top this, and yet I can't help but eagerly await more.

Yes, they've been discontinued for a while; like many Zoomers, I learned about them through Sonic Adventure 2, because there was a tie-in collaboration deal where Sonic was rockin some SOAPs the entire game B)

Great thread; all the events that went down this month with Homestuck just solidifies that it is deeply troubled as a corporate entity, as an IP, as a fandom, and as a reflection of all the worst tendencies of its creator. DELTARUNE: CHAPTER 3 (2025)

It's a fairly satisfying segment on its own, with some notably strong visuals, comedy, and a great cliffhanger ending, but the pacing is kinda stilted, the minigames are a mixed bag, and it's clear that this is just a transitive arc to a likely-better Chapter 4.

PUMPKIN SCISSORS (2006)

Starts as a pretty nuanced slow-burn piece about trauma, war relief, and the long-term effects that imperialism has on the poor, but slowly transforms into an annoyingly centrist narrative that sympathizes more with "the few good" imperialists over the actual victims.

SAJA BOYS SAJA BOYS SAJA BOYS (this film had some uncomfortable takes on critical race theory & segregation that were definitely unintentional but still impossible to divorce from the otherwise-solid plot with good songs and visuals) SAJA BOYS SAJA BOYS SAJA BOYS!!!

DESCENDANTS (2015)

One of the more baffling political movies in Disney's lineup: a thoroughly & unintentionally (??) pro-segregation and pro-assimilation plot wrapped in the colorful aesthetics of modern fantasy. Mediocre-at-best musical numbers, too; Zombies clears in almost every way.
