Anytime between 5 and 8 pm, depending on how late the cook wants to sleep in and how much football she wants to watch, and you’ll damn well be grateful she’s feeding you at all.

First, an earthquake hit Alaska. Then it was a typhoon. People turned to public radio for lifesaving information. Sen. Lisa Murkowski tried to get her colleagues to understand the importance of stations.

They voted to defund public media anyway.

In remote Alaska, public radio station KYUK is crucial during natural disasters. Without federal funding, how will it survive?

A reminder that you can’t separate the role of teaching a class from non-transparent mentoring at the discretion of the professor. Well after the final exam, students need letters of recommendation, advice about future education, a good word with potential employers, etc.

I propose that we create the job of cleaning off white boards between classes, since apparently no one wants to do it.
I like the jokes about cleaning toilets as much as the next person, but there is honestly a lot of needed work that someone could contribute out of the classroom at an elite institution. Here are some recommendations:

If you want it to be easier to penalize creeps like Summers, please work with your Faculty Senate to tighten up Faculty Code on policies governing student/professor relations specific to graduate student mentoring. Clear rules make penalties easier.

TBC this is absolutely about govt-to-govt relations. Tribes need federal data on crime to set policy, and they’ve been working with crap data far too long.

So it’s bad if students publicly shame professors, but it’s good if professors publicly shame their students for publicly shaming them?

If you don’t respect students’ privacy, maybe you’re bringing this on yourself.
This is an absolutely incredible thing to say. As someone in Ivy-ish (Duke) classrooms from 2016-2022… I call bull.

Or she was saying offensive shit.
