Cold air helped!! 🥶🏃‍♀️😁 Also, took a few days to get 10+ hours of sleep.

I jogged 1km without walking for the first time since my reboot. And I managed to get 4km into my daily 30min run. After that is me walking to cool down each day. The goal is 5km in 30min before its too hot to run in Houston.

I started this today 🙁

Me and my parents on St. Croix 1990. I was deliriously sick with dengue in this photo. After sleeping for 4 days, my dad forced me to go outside for a photo and some sun. I needed help to stand up and was leaning against my mom for balance.

I am a white American five generations from a 6 year old girl who lost her parents on the Trail of Tears, het somehow survived. Cherokee are matriarchal, so without a mother as head of house to provide a place in the tribe, she was not raised Cherokee. This video is what pow wows were like for me.
One way to fight fascism is to not let it take away our sense of hope. Our sense of wholeness and our sense of humor.

This Thanksgiving, amplify Indigenous creators. Watch my friend @joeycliiiiiift's short film POW! Hilarious, radical and real.

After feasting on Red Snapper yesterday, we had the traditional turkey dinner at home today. And then went Black Friday shopping. I barely made it out to run, but I made it. And tonight my neighborhood was lit up with xmas lights! What a reward!

And yes, I did manage to get my run in today. Was a little rough running after the big meal. 🍽️ 🦃 🐟

I know turkey is traditional, but I stuffed myself full of delicious red snapper instead. There will be turkey tomorrow. And hopefully some apple pie, too! 😉

Happy Thanksgiving from Houston!

So much to be grateful for:
1. Living in a free country
2. Family
3. Health
4. The privilege to wake up somewhere our actions have real impact to make the world a better place

My Thanksgiving challenge to everyone: At your family reunions, take turns saying what you are grateful for. Do NOT skip this important step of the holiday. For my family, this is our tradition, but I have realized that new Americans (only 3-4 generations) don’t do this.

Had to cut 10 minutes off the run tonight and skipped the cool down. 😒 didn’t keep the first km below 7 minutes, either. 😞 I was keeping it chill to avoid leg cramps to continue daily runs to build endurance.

The good stuff - look at my power: 120 is back!!!! 😃

Managed to repeat that <7 min km 👍 and then leg cramps began to settle in during the second km, so I walked the rest. Gotta be able to show up tomorrow, so needed to listen and slow it down. Baloo was here for a snuggle at the end.

Ukraine desperately needs peace. That country does not sleep. They are awake all night on their phones watching for updates of missiles or drones headed toward them to determine if they should go to a shelter. And a few times a week they do leave their home. Give them a real peace deal.

My first km in less than 7 min! Progress! I’d feel better if it was a minute less. A little stronger, a little better every day.

Starting the day with a run makes me feel accomplished even before I begin the day’s fights.

I saw the commercial. I read the president’s post. I support my Congressman Al Green.

Eek! My power is coming back!!! 🏃
I admitted to myself that I can’t run like I did 5 years ago and very mindfully cut my stride length in half until I build up my strength in my feet and knees again. It made all the difference and this was the longest distance I could run before having to walk.

A thought about the next democratic nominee:

Asking Americans who they personally like versus who they think will can win are two entirely different questions.

To discover where we really are, surveys should be designed to tease this out.

Tonight’s run began by focusing on form, with special attention on landing evenly on my foot, not on my toes. My spine and hips liked this for the first km. In the 2nd km, my left foot reminded me it had been injured a while back. I walked the last 2km.

Today’s cruiseship on the Frederiksted dock is a more common site. Warships in the Caribbean don’t usually come here. I support the boost to business both ships bring to the island. Can’t say I feel the same about killing people on fishing boats with no accountability.

Here we go again! I still have a bit of a cough, but that bug is mostly gone and I am at it again. I am so proud! All 3 km have power over 100! It has been a long climb up from the bottom. Starting to feel half way decent. Still lots more to go! Just a few years ago, I could do a 5K in less than 30.

Teddy Roosevelt stayed in my teenage homeI in St. Croix. The plaque above my front door said he visited in 1916. The image of it will be forever etched in my mind. I was looking for details of this visit and ChatGPT said it never happened. Luckily, I found this:
