They look like dugouts like my great-grandparents lived in around 1900 in southern Oklahoma. Good for Ukraine for the successful ruskie hunting!

If you can’t convey your science and its worth to non-scientists, or scientists outside your field of expertise, it has no chance of moving outside your bubble and having impact. Lately, I seem to be doing more strategic planning than anything else, but my heart is always with the writers.

The 10/7 attack was horrendous. However, Israel has done its fair share of things to provoke Palestinians. The centuries old conflict is tragic. At the same time, Palestinian genocide is not the answer. It is difficult to support Israel after their self-righteous fury of death.

Oh! And I discussed what to do when meta-sex flies skewed expected results. Throwing data out that didn’t fit expectations was not an option when you came across those flies that were neither male nor female. Yes, there is more than one sex in biology.

In grad school, I taught the most demanding scientific writing course offered. It required late nights doing original experiments and honestly writing results/interpretations in manuscript form. I have no idea how I survived maintaining high standards without getting fired. Smile and be encouraging.

Yep. How about giving those barges actual inspections?

I’ve learned that I love regulations. Yes, they slow things down and we should work to reduce that, but an unchecked world is too dog-eat-dog. People can and will abuse others without enforced guidelines.

I know. There are some things you just don’t want to say out loud. 😉 I see it, too, and agree with you.

We never thought we would have a president who worked against the people. The 5 annual pardons were meant to be a tradition that showed grace and provided a second chance when it wasn’t deserved. The abuse of this power negates having laws.

The hospital had been destroyed by Hurricane Hugo. Healthcare was administered under blue FEMA tarps. For dengue, there wasn’t treatment available at the time.

After this my dad made me sit at the table to eat 3 times a day, and holding my head up was hard. I had been drinking broth and orange juice in bed, but hadn’t eaten for days. Took a few weeks to get better. Never realized how close I came to dying until years later. My parents knew.

In other words, I barely know anything Cherokee except we survived and are now part of the white world. What is worse? Owning that history and sharing the bit I know? Or letting all those “assimilation” efforts succeed by denying my own history. I’m a complicated mess. Most Americans are.

For this situation, I will observe and listen for a while before forming an opinion. I will comment that I would love to purge all American leaders guilty of corruption. I’m not sure if we would have a functioning government left if we did.

Looks just like the Cahokia mounds in Illinois, not far from St. Louis.

Sorta like slavery?

That is not happening, because influential citizens of our collective countries are selfishly colluding with Russia for their own gain. They are effectively slowing down help that we are providing. We are in this fight for common good together.

Anti-drone nets! That’s what that is. I’ve seen them in so many pictures and wondered what it was for. Clearly, I need to keep watching and listening for things I don’t understand.
