Meloni looks like she wants off the planet during Trump's speech 😆
lauranelson1005.bsky.social
Italian PM Georgia Meloni not only listening to Maximum Leader belching forth word salad, but.....she is downwind. First time I ever felt a modicum of sympathy toward her.

tfw you're forced to listen to Trump

To make it an even 10 (easier grading):

7) Anti-Oligarchy (Antitrust, Unionization, tax the rich, etc.)
8) Restore all DEI
9) No alliances with tyrants (Netanyahu, Putin, Orban, etc.)
10) Tech Reform (Internet Privacy, Public Platforms, restore the Fairness Doctrine, etc.)

I like how the news will be like “while the President claiming Portland was ruled by a giant skeleton named Mr Nibbles is not strictly true, it does speak to the anxiety of many Americans”

His slip of the tongue reveals who’s really in charge. trib.al/mIvP0yE

“Illinois governor says we’re provoking actions that are unlawful,” Miller said on CNN. “If I put federal law enforcement and National Guard into a nice sleepy Southern town, is anyone gonna riot?”

This is one of the funniest paragraphs a tran has ever written, and it's 130 years old

I know it's some backwards ass Edwardian convention, but the fact that she used Latin terms any time she wants to talk about how horny she is (which is often) is absolutely sending me.

The modernist version of talking about @ss and corn and s3x 🥲

Sensual thoughts now began to creep into my mind more and more. Interest in my studies was declining. In the class-room I was absent-minded, and when called upon, would be confused, and hardly able to reply to the pro- fessor's questions. Even here I would be thinking of the soft satin-smooth cutis in inguine of my late guest which I had found gratissima tactioni, praesertim labiali et lin- guali, and would regret that it was always to be denied to me to touch again on viro this marvellously fine integu- ment. I pined for the repetition of other similar pleas- ures which I had for the first time tasted in their fulness only a few weeks before, such as pillowing caput super abdomene aut femure nudo adolescentis, the fascinating sight membri virilis ejus erecti, and the extremely smooth surface glandis, gratissima tactioni et digitorum et oris.

Per omnia saecula saeculorum. Woo hoo.

1) Pritzker needs to mobilize the Illinois National Guard and fast. The TX National Guard is an invading force.

2) The few Dems with a backbone in Congress need to call for a Nationwide General Strike. Shut the Country down, demonstrate.

3) Blue States need to adopt "soft secession." Google it.

We were there in January, dude.....
lauranelson1005.bsky.social
Maybe, maybe not. They fucking better be.

I thought this was a joke when I first saw it.

It isn't

The US Treasury plans to release it in 2026.

Remember: when this regime falls--and it will--those complicit will be held to account.

Should win: Don DeLillo

Will win: Pynchon or Murakami, even odds IMHO

Taylor Swift? On the same list as Paul Simon? Really? Really???

Not only is the man evil, stupid, and crazy, but he's rude, too.
lauranelson1005.bsky.social
Question: can Gov. Pritzker call up the Illinois National Guard to protect against ICE et al? Certainly seems justified to me.
lauranelson1005.bsky.social
Of these four, no contest. Heroes.

As for Tay-Tay, I still don't hear what the commotion is about. Competent singing and songwriting, but nothing more. Dull as dust.

But that might just be me.......
lauranelson1005.bsky.social
I mean, this is wonderful and all that, but everything I have seen transpire since January 20 is that Maximum Leader will do what he plans to do anyway, federal judges be damned. SCOTUS has his back.

As I see it, the choice is now up to the States, which should call up their guards before he does.

Ahh yes! WLIR. I remember it well. Good times.

...can engage in ad infinitum. The POLITICAL issue concerns my rights as a self-determining agent, and the COMMON good, the life we share, whatever one thinks about trans people.

is irrelevant. (Their discomfort makes ME uncomfortable!) What matters is that they treat me like a fellow human being.

Debates about whether "trans" is born or made, through genes, environment, or autonomous choice, are not what is at issue. That's a metaphysical question that you 3/

...I expect them to respect my choice to present as female, to be addressed as female, to not be discriminated against in work and housing because I am a trans woman, and so on. Whether one agrees with my gender perceptions is beside the point. If my gender expression makes them uncomfortable 2/n
lauranelson1005.bsky.social
I agree wholeheartedly with this. For some people, like myself (not everybody), the "born this way" meme works — I have known since I was five years old. But POLITICALLY it is not the relevant point. However, one views my transness, or whether they approve or disapprove 1/n
evanurquhart.bsky.social
What I'm trying to get across is that the time of "born this way" as the safe, pragmatic, responsible way of talking about trans identity is over.

I'm hoping to convince my fellow moderate trans people, those who naturally resonate with this way of thinking about our own transness.
evanurquhart.bsky.social
When I say rejecting I don't even mean they don't believe them but that they don't care. They've decided they're going to stand by and let trans people be victims.

So, to my mind, the cure for that is to come from another direction and start talking freedom and self-determination.
lauranelson1005.bsky.social
"Democrats Erupt" sounds oxymoronic to me.

I hope this changes. I hope this ends the insipid bipartisan rhetoric and finally prompts an epiphany on the part of Schumer and Jeffries. I am not holding my breath.
lauranelson1005.bsky.social
Which makes them very, VERY dangerous.

I would hope this dire event impresses the military brass enough to realize that soon they will be asked to choose between fealty to the people of the nation and loyalty to Maximum Leader and his stooge. Choose wisely.
