💧 The Government’s Water White Paper is out.
Water companies must do far better and be held squarely to account. But delivering the scale of change needed will require more than blame and antagonism and this White Paper is a genuine move in that direction.

Today's AR7 results secured a record 8.4GW of offshore wind - the biggest single procurement of offshore wind in British and European history. This is a vote of confidence in the UK’s clean energy future and the direction this gov has set.

After the excellent Environmental Improvement Plan launch yesterday, I'm in LabourList bigging up Labour's nature delivery. But that this is being hampered by its nature rhetoric.

By accelerating the UK's PM2.5 target by a full decade, committing to action on wood burning, and backing local authorities, this plan will deliver tangible wins for public health, the economy, and the environment.

Credit to govt for taking a long overdue move to strengthen UK PM2.5 targets, aligning with the EU. More to be done, but the plan shows a step change in narrative & policy where clean air is taken more seriously.
