@leapsports.bsky.social, Pride Sports & @pridesportscymru.bsky.social are deeply shocked by the decision of the UK Supreme Court in the case of For Women Scotland v Scottish Ministers. We are concerned about the potential implications for trans people across the sport & physical activity sector…

A message for our community 🏳️‍⚧️
Graphic with blue background and light writing that spells out: Today is a challenging day for trans and non-binary people and our wider LGBTIQ+ community, and we share the widespread concern following the Supreme Court ruling. While we work to understand the legal details, our groups, programmes and services remain available. We continue to be steadfast in our mission to ensure that trans and non-binary can access, participate, excel and enjoy sport and physical activity. We will now take the time to work with partners in the LGBTIQ+ sector, as well as with the sports sector, to understand the ruling before we communicate further.

Along with @lgbtiscotland.bsky.social, we've published our reaction to the judgement in the UK Supreme Court today.

There will be more we want to say to trans people directly once we have a chance to catch our breath.

www.equality-network.org/uk-supreme-c...
Graphic with a purple background. It reads: "We are really shocked by today's Supreme Court decision- which reverses twenty years of understanding on how the law recognises trans men and women with Gender Recognition Certificates. The judgement seems to have totally missed what matters to trans people- - that we are able to live our lives, and be recognised, in line with who we truly are. We will continue working for a world in which trans people can get on with our lives with privacy, dignity and safety. That is something that we all deserve.". The Scottish Trans and Equality Network logos are in the bottom right.

FWS have won their case against the Scottish Government. We will be reading the judgement as quickly as possible so we can properly understand what the Court has decided today.

Let’s not go back to a time where trans people could not go to work safely, use services that met our needs, or use public spaces freely.

Read our thoughts: www.scottishtrans.org/responding-t...
Graphic with Puprle and Blue Gradient background. It reads: Most people aren’t trans, but some people in fact are.

Trans people need to be able to recover on hospital wards, use toilets, access cancer screenings, receive support after experiencing sexual violence, go swimming, try on new clothes… just like anyone else.

For many years, not enough people recognised this, and trans people faced real and significant harm because of that.

Let’s not go back to those times.' The Scottish Trans logo is in the bottom right corner.

Conversion practices breach human rights and have no place in Scotland. That is why this Valentine's Day we are showing our support for a Bill in Scotland to end these practices to protect LGBTQA+ people from harm.

Excited to be at @scotparc.bsky.social conference this morning to deliver a workshop on connecting with LGBTIQ+ communities through partnership #sparcconference
leapsports.bsky.social
Final thank you goes to @hannahbardell.bsky.social for her fantastic hosting. She brought her expertise and good humour and eased the attendees through a packed programme.

We (& the audience) particularly enjoyed the chat between Hannah and Robyn Love about all things queer women in sport!
A group of people sitting in a conference hall. Host Hannah Bardell is introducing and handing over the microphone to Maree Todd. Robyn Love is seated listening to Hannah Bardell, who is standing. Behind them is a screen that reads: "In Conversation with Robyn Love". They are both holding microphones and Hannah is introducing Robyn.

Large conference room with many attendees facing a screen and speakers. Four people sitting at a top table of a conference room ready to speak as part of a panel. Behind them is a screen that reads "Moving to LGBTIQ+ Inclusion: How is it going?" The leader of the panel, Stew, is standing on the right of the top table. It's now 3 weeks since we gathered the Scottish sport sector for our Moving to LGBTIQ+ Inclusion conference in Stirling and safe to say we are still buzzing!

Big thanks to all speakers and contributors & especially a big thank you to LGBTIQ+ community members who shared their stories
