I’ll have said this before, but every now and then I do an interview that reminds me why I do this - speaking to Olivia was definitely another one of those moments. Talking about some hugely important topics, and hearing how things came full circle at Endon, made me emotional just listening to her

New date for the postponed Inverness protest just dropped...

Sat 26th July, 1.30pm outside the Inverness Town House. Put it in your diaries. Print out the flyer and distribute.
Poster showing a protest for trans rights in Inverness, with a pink border top and bottom, and the words "Your body, your choice. The supreme court should not control our bodies! Bare truth exhibition. Sat 26th July 2025, 1.30PM Inverness Town House." in all caps over the top.

Ok, I think that actually does bring an end to our Pride month coverage. I’m off to lie down for a while - but remember to subscribe to our free newsletter, The Queerier, to keep up to date with the latest LGBTQ+ news and features from across the north of Scotland

Oh, you thought that was it for this thread? Nope, one last event on the final day of Pride month saw students from two Inverness secondary schools come together to remind LGBTQ+ youth that they are not alone.

While yesterday marked the final Pride March in the Highlands this year, fear not - a new group has started up in the Cairngorms, believed to be one of, if not, the UK’s first eco-Prides.

And let’s face it, what Pride is complete without a photo gallery from the day! My colleague David Scott was on hand with his camera, putting together a fantastic selection of images from the first ever Caithness Pride.

One last preview piece for Caithness Pride with the powerhouse behind it all, Charlotte Garscadden, discussing what she hopes people will take from the day. I’ll be there in Thurso, so look out for reaction after the day too…

First ever Pride parade will be an emotional moment
Organisers have worked for months to make Pride a reality in Thurso, and now the moment has finally arrived.

Really loved this chat with Dr Emma Miller which covered so many different things - coming out later in life, being disgusted by the Supreme Court ruling as a lesbian, and why higher education institutions need to do more to fight LGBTQ-phobia.

Pride ‘more important’ in areas like Caithness
Dr Emma Miller has lived in rural communities around the world, and has seen the impact that visibility can have on the next generation.

In the meantime, it’s full steam ahead to the first ever Caithness Pride march in Thurso this Saturday! I’ve spoken to a few people in the local community to hear how important this kind of event is in a place like Caithness, starting with Charlie Bryde.

Not something I’ve written about (yet) but since this is a Pride month thread, worth bearing this in mind for the end of June in Inverness 👇🏳️‍⚧️

Another protest in Inverness against the oppression of trans people in the UK by the supreme court, the EHRC and the government...
The words "Your body. Your choice. The supreme court should not control our bodies! Bare truth exhibition. 28/06/25 1.30pm. Inverness Town House." over a pale photo of protesters in an Inverness street with trans banners.

Highland Pride took place in Inverness yesterday, with an amazing turnout of over 1100 people on the march and a sold out Eden Court for the guest speakers and performers. Naturally, the organisers were delighted with how it all went.

Something I've wanted to do for a long time finally came off - getting a group of LGBTQ+ people from different generations around a table talking to each other about their experiences. A snapshot of the conversation here, with hopefully more to come soon

Or equally, anything I can help with by passing on?
ahenderson96.bsky.social
The short answer is I’d have to ask! 😅 I was lucky in that Julia lives right around the corner from my office, so it was super practical to pull stuff together. Is there a contact I can pass on if she is interested in getting involved?
ahenderson96.bsky.social
Thank you! Didn’t realise they had their own handle 😅
