Let’s make different political choices.

For decades now British people have been told to simply swallow austerity. They’ve been told that the NHS needs cuts, that libraries need closing and that child poverty can’t be tackled.

Greens say: Bullshit!

reactionary centrists insist trans acceptance went too far & generated a backlash

but the UK legal transition for 20 years, it wasn't an issue until the press made it one

For anyone who needs context, the burning of Cork in 1920 was in no way a ‘mystery’. British troops went from building to building, setting fires and then hung around to hold back fire-fighters, including cutting their hoses. The city centre looked like London after the Blitz.

As @zackpolanski.bsky.social says so well, we have lost #ordinaryhope after decades of it being drained from our communities, our work and our lives. And people should be fighting back. Not with hate, but with hope.

Your enemy is not other poor people.

But of course she does!…

Because she’s an obsessive, transphobic, BILLIONAIRE!!! 😖

Yet public organisations are being criticised by the trans-hostile media for not just rolling over to wealthy BULLIES using their money to force their IDEOLOGY on others! 😣

The "Blue No Matter Who" crowd gets it exactly wrong on two counts:

1. Solidarity is built from the ground up and solidarity is what builds coalitions and movements

2. Asking marginalized communities time and again to sacrifice their needs in the name of the greater good has diminishing returns

Pritzker: "It's unconscionable. This has never happened before. They're calling out troops onto the streets of a state that doesn't want them and they're not even telling us where they're gonna go, what they're gonna do. This hasn't happened I don't think since the Civil War."

It cannot be made clearer.

If you continue to support the Harry Potter franchise in any way, you are directly funding the removal of trans people's human rights in the UK.

And by 'mugshots' I mean artists impressions of course.

They did the same thing with Andrew Cunanan and Luka Magnotta, showing mugshots of them in drag on TV when the manhunt was on, despite no evidence either of them did drag.

Then don't expect trans people to sacrifice themselves for your rights either. We are all free or none of us are, and if you can't stand and die on this hill, your country isn't worth dying for.

I hate to say it but the majority of the country is not going to die on the hill of trans rights. We can't protect ANY groups if we can't win a national election, so purity tests only serve to make specific groups feel triumphant. That's not "erasing" them; it's long-horizon strategy.

I'm gonna say it again, and I'm gonna keep saying it until it sinks in or this exorcist figures out how to banish me:

I will actively work against any candidate or party that tries to sacrifice my community. It's not even that I won't vote for them, it's so far beyond that.

It’s really neat that for awhile pundits like this were saying “why can’t Zohran clearly and directly denounce the violence of Hamas?” and when he clearly and directly denounces the violence of Hamas they go “but he didn’t do it with any poetry! It wasn’t beautiful! I demand panache!”

Ah, let's check in on what the war crimes proponent has to say
David Frum This is a genuinely useful statement. The chilly formulaic language about the 10/7 atrocity ... the intense angry passion of the denunciation of Israel's self-defense ... together they arrestingly reveal what the author cares about and what/who he does not care about.

My statement on the two year anniversary of October 7, 2023.
Two years ago today, Hamas carried out a horrific war crime, killing more than 1,100 Israelis and kidnapping 250 more.
I mourn these lives and pray for the safe return of every hostage still held and for every family whose lives were torn apart by these atrocities.
In the aftermath of that day, Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Israeli government launched a genocidal war: a death toll that now far exceeds 67,000; with the Israeli military bombing homes, hospitals, and schools into rubble. Every day in Gaza has become a place where grief itself has run out of language.
I mourn these lives and pray for the families that have been shattered. Our government has been complicit through it all.
This must end. The occupation and apartheid must end.
Peace must be pursued through diplomacy, not war crimes, and our government must act to end these atrocities and hold those responsible to account.
These last two years have demonstrated the very worst of humanity. We must answer it by modeling the very best: a relentless pursuit of our higher ideals and an unwavering commitment to universal human rights.

As someone whose egg partially cracked at 21, and didn't fully crack until 45, it wasn't so bad. Of course for me I spent most of those years exploring various forms of androgyny, gender fluidity, and GNC expression. I wasn't trapped in masculinity although eventually I realised it wasn't enough.

Yes, you read that right: Sandyford has a wait time of 223 YEARS.
I went to the Tavistock for my first appointment at the beginning of 2023, after waiting nearly 5 years. Two years later, it’s nearly 12 YEARS. That’s more than doubled in 2 years.
These numbers aren’t by accident, they’re by choice.

The new Aussie critique of the Cass Review does not pull its punches about its failures, & makes the point that "gender-critical beliefs" should be declared.

Since transphobes have made so much of having these protected by law, they should be required to declare them.

Evidence‐based medicine has three pillars: (i) appraisal of research evidence, (ii) real‐world clinical expertise, and (iii) individual patient values and preferences. The Review's failures across all three are evident.
Clinician and researcher self‐awareness of personal values is essential for evidence‐based medicine practice. Non‐financial conflicts of interest should be disclosed; for example, religious, cultural, and so‐called “gender‐critical” beliefs. The Review acknowledges no such considerations, and does not disclose the positionality of authors.

Remember how the Trump administration raged about "transgender mice" because of studies involving transgenic mice?

Well, the woman who just won the Nobel Prize in Medicine wrote her thesis using transgenic mice.
Early life and education

Brunkow was born in 1961 in Portland, Oregon.[2][3] She graduated at St. Mary's Academy in Portland in 1979.[3]

Brunkow received a BS in molecular and cellular biology from the University of Washington in 1983.[4] She received a PhD in molecular biology from Princeton University in 1991, where her advisor was Shirley M. Tilghman.[5] Her doctoral dissertation was titled Expression and function of the H19 gene in transgenic mice (1991).[1]
