New: Bari Weiss booked Hillary Clinton, Mike Pompeo, and Antony Blinken for a roundtable on Gaza, her first major move at CBS.

Notably on a CBS call today in which the panel was floated, one producer also repeatedly emphasized the need to hear from Palestinians in Gaza (Weiss did not respond).

I've been thinking a lot about life, existence, and meaning lately. Here's something I thought about yesterday. Whether you believe in a God or not, the NHS might be the closest thing we have to a secular church, where anyone can go in their hour of need. That is a precious and beautiful thing.

I'm now back home and will be receiving daily wellness checks and support as we decide on the next steps forward. Thank you to everyone for being so kind and caring to me yesterday. it was simple: So long as I was in that waiting room, the question was, "Do you want help?" And the answer was, "Yes."

This morning I took myself to hospital because roughly 36 hours ago my brain completely stopped functioning and started instructing me that it was ‘time to leave’ and so I just needed to go somewhere that I could feel more certain that that wouldn’t happen, so now I am waiting for help.

There are three versions with different endings only one of which is half decent, I think it’s the directors cut. They’re all pretty crap endings though so don’t sweat over it lol

1408 is far from a perfect movie but I remain strangely fond of it, and I guess I relate hard to John Cusack screaming, “What do you want from me?!” into a hotel room fridge and a malevolent concierge repeatedly phoning up to ask in a friendly voice if you would like to check out yet.

It has been 10 hours and an NHS waiting room is both the best and worst place for someone contemplating the Order of the world and when our time will come, but I just wanted to be honest and admit that I have been trying very hard and struggling, but I do hope I can keep trying.

The attempt to find a silly way to phrase a very serious moment there probably gives some indicator as to how I’m feeling right now but I’m constantly torn over whether to present myself how I’d like to be or how I actually am and this week the invitation turned into a summoning and so that is that.

It just doesn’t do what businesses want it to do, which is what all the hype men proclaimed it can/would do, and the deficiency is likely inherent to both how the tech itself works and the underlying economics, but nobody wants to say so out loud (yet).

As @edzitron.com (IIRC) put it, within 12 months of the iPhone releasing there were clear signs it was going to revolutionise society. It’s been three years with this stuff and despite businesses adopting it en masse, it’s mostly a hindrance for the workers and, for retail consumers, a silly geegaw.

The story’s a bit more complicated than that. If I remember correctly, there was reporting a month or two ago which stated that business uptake of the technology had been incredibly high, and the issue was a lack of outcomes.

You’re seeing what happens when Dems sacrifice single issues to they perceive as ‘unpopular’ or ‘unimportant’ trying to triangulate against Trump right now, virtually every single day: Trump dances in the end zone and becomes bolder while the Democratic base becomes increasingly demoralised.
