it feels like we're in the late seasons of GoT where the writers threw away entire plot lines because fan theories were too accurate, and they'd rather have an incoherent mess that nobody could predict than a logical conclusion to a story.

that's so real. kid overheard conversation about healthcare costs going up and after thinking about how to frame it, blunt honest was the easiest answer and "well, they're a business. so their goal is to make money off sick people, not make people better" is what came out

gently folding the bits reality in that they need (rehearsing what to do/say to cops, etc) while keeping them isolated from just how bad things are is just a constant pit in the bottom of the soul
