I agree with many of your thoughts. Embedding challenge is critically important and it is fabulous when students set challenges for themselves. However, I think the teacher has very important role to play and this especially relates to the questions the teacher asks at all stages in the learning

Are you a fan of classroom displays?

Some contexts / countries I visit deliberately avoid them so as not to distract s’s (particularly those with ADHD), whereas for others, they’re a must. I like these #wonderwobbles designed to support philosophical thinking. #scottishborders #teaching
