Medicare for All would save $450B a year.

Every dollar spent on food stamps generates $1.50-$1.80 in economic activity.

Each dollar going to low-wage workers adds $1.20 to the economy overall.

It’s not about what this country can or can’t afford.

It’s about priorities.

I realize media doesn’t think it’s a big deal that Trump, Vance & Hegseth continue to give partisan political speeches to troops, evidenced by the fact that they are never asked about it nor are members of Congress, but it is one of the most dangerous things happening right now.

Yesterday upwards of 300 million people across India held a national strike.

Numerous unions and farmers' groups flooded the streets, shutting down large segments of the economy.

One of the key demands was a withdrawal from the trade deal struck with the Trump administration.

"The AG spied on members of Congress as we were conducting oversight … which completely violates the separation of powers. The whole point of Congress is … oversight on this administration. Why would they need to spy on us if they weren’t worried about what we were looking at?" [cued to segment]

It’s election subversion, not cancellation, that is the real authoritarian move.

Putin hasn’t canceled an election. Iran has regular elections.

It's competitive authoritarianism, where "democratic institutions & elections persist, but are hollowed out."

In our history we’ve had Cabinets with people who were bad at their jobs, but good people who meant well.

We’ve had people who were good at their jobs, but bad people.

But we’ve not had one like Trump’s filled with people who are both garbage humans and terrible at their jobs.

How the fuck is Corey Lewandowski in any position to fire a Coast Guard pilot?

What is his title?

What is his job?

What is his official position in the US government?

If you are Kristi Noem’s boyfriend you get to fire Coast Guard officers?

I do really wish more reporters would just ask "Speaker Johnson, do you think it’s appropriate for the Speaker of the House—third in line of succession to the presidency—to be so consistently unfamiliar with current events?"
Q: Rep. Jayapal accused the DOJ of tracking her search history. Is that appropriate conduct?

MIKE JOHNSON: I don't know anything about that

Q: Bondi had a piece of paper with Jayapal's search history

JOHNSON: I don't know anything about that but it would be inappropriate if it happened

I can think of several dozen historians who would be happy to lecture @jaketapper.bsky.social about why "concentration camp" is, in fact, an apt term.
God the gall of @jaketapper.bsky.social lecturing that Minneapolis small business owner about the meaning of the word "concentration camp" while people are being crammed into poorly resourced buildings by the thousands and shuttled off never to be heard from again

Trump's big, ugly budget megabill gives ICE more agents than the FBI, more jails than the federal Bureau of Prisons, and a larger budget than most countries' militaries.

It does this by stripping food away from children, the disabled, and the working poor.

Not one more penny.

Bondi tracked Congress members' searches of the files. Bondi saw that Rep. Balint had searched for Howard Lutnick, who is Jewish. Bondi then pounced on that fact to accuse Rep. Balint of antisemitism. Rep. Balint is Jewish, and she lost a grandfather in the Holocaust.

I agree with Jimmy Kimmel. Since Trump insists on putting his name on EVERYTHING, we should refer to the Epstein files from now on as the Trump Epstein Files.

This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

I’ve watched a lot of congressional hearings over the last 40 years. This performance by Bondi is the single most unprofessional, non-responsive, reprehensible and obnoxious I have ever seen from any witness who has testified before any committee of either chamber.

Pam Bondi has a smear file on each Democrat on the committee in front of her. When one of them asks a question, she opens the file to that member and spouts smear read from the file, without even pretending to answer the question. This meets the technical requirements for a contempt citation.
