X and Grok are built on open source software

This is the legacy of permissive software licensing

White supremacy is not a bug in the “software freedom” pseudo-philosophy, it's a feature

komorebi is an explicitly post-open source project which rejects the open source philosophy that corporations are people and that corporate use must be treated the same as personal use

pretty interesting article by @LGUG2Z on how his journey to extract payments from corporations to support his work on open source is going. Apparently, quite well!

god tiling window managers are so cool, first thing I'm banning when I'm the president is stacking WMs

Posts like this make me think that KDE should probably be the target for an eventual Linux port of komorebi
They already picked what 90% of people who will migrate from Windows to Linux pick, which is some spin of Arch Linux with gaming packages pre-installed and Plasma as desktop environment.

I'm old school, my 10 year old Thinkpad is on Debian 13 with an XFCE session and custom tiling window manager

Effective altruism is pro-life for atheists: they can advocate for people who exist hypothetically and don’t have to listen to the needs of the living.
New article about the deafening silence from Effective Altruist leaders on the most morally important issues of our time: the Gaza genocide, rise of fascism, and brutality of ICE. I also discuss how the world would probably be better if EA had never existed. What do you think?

Perhaps the worst thing about working with me is that I do actual code reviews and I care deeply about maintaining a coherent sense of aesthetics in codebases

There is/was this, but custom layouts are deprecated in Windows and have not been implemented in macOS

In hindsight, this particular approach to custom layouts has a lot of flaws that make it difficult to build on

I'm open to new, more flexible custom layout ideas

actually i don't like tiling window managers

alt-tab is really the GOAT, especially when it works with tiling window managers across all workspaces
I’m honestly back to alt-tabbing even with a tiling WM because it’s so different from macOS to linux to iPadOS but tab works the same everywhere and I just try to multitask less. At some point I’ll make better “project launchers” so I am even less tempted to leave windows open
