This piece leaves out an important issue: many university libraries have had their collection budgets reduced to the point they struggle to maintain access to subscription databases. If you can’t buy large quantities of print materials, the collections age to the point that they aren’t useful.

"Are you a librarian?" the lady at the thrift store asked. When I said yes, she gave me a fist bump saying, "Keep up the hard work protecting books."

Reference question that I'm crowdsourcing:
Does anyone know of any guides or resources for someone who is trying to transition to a new name in professional settings? This is specifically in the LIS field.

This is part of why refusal is getting messier.

Half the University is pushing students to use AI. A quarter is skeptical. Another quarter says absolutely not.
I'm not sure I fully blame them - the uni bought all these tools & is pushing them on us. Ss may not know the difference. On the flip side, the class seemed genuinely horrified to imagine any of them using this stuff to do the work, so that was encouraging. And again, the work overall was so good!

Is there a sudden mass delusion or forgetting about what Black Friday is? Why are there so many Black Friday sales now?? It's not a month long, it's a single day. It's not even the right week yet!
