Budget 2025

Cash ISA limit cut from £20,000 to £12,000, £8,000 more if invested in shares; over 65s can keep £20,000 in cash.

Example of how the state helps the City of London.

£8,000 in shares doesn't mean companies get more for investment. It is transfer from A to B. City gets commissions.

Like hell was Powell right!

In typical #RightWing manner, he was a racist, just like #Farage, spreading hatred & poison.
Today, Nigel Farage reiterated his belief that Enoch Powell ‘was right’.

If you are a Sikh, he’s talking about you - about how ‘wearing turbans whilst driving a bus would disrupt Britain’.

If you are black, he’s talking about you - how when you moved in next door to white people, you ‘took over’.

The wealthy hardly hit.

Minor tweaks on dividend and mansion tax.

How are all those Labour politicians cheering for it?

They were literally whipped to vote for it and then the Prime Minister suspended those who didn't.

They really are totally devoid of any moral principle.

They respond to one thing - and that's political pressure.

Zack Polanski must be getting into the head of Rachel Reeves, she knows it makes sense to tax them. But, she won't.

I wonder why?

Well done, Zack, you'll be living rent free in a few more Ministers heads soon enough.
Just heard Rachel Reeves have a pop at @zackpolanski.bsky.social thereby signifying that she is really quite alarmed by the rise in @greenparty.org.uk

And do she should be!

According to OBR "curtain raiser" the Budget will increase taxes by £26 billion by 29/30 but a huge proportion of these changes (£18 billion) allocated to doubling headroom. Surely this is the moment to invest more in public services and helping people with the cost of living?

A metaphor - this report into BBC coverage - said could be "easily misleading."

Why is the government trying to mislead the country?

The 50 wealthiest families own more wealth than the bottom 50% of the population.

How can this Labour Government say this is a "cost of living" budget and refuse to tax the rich?

They care about protecting power and wealth. And cost of living is a buzz phrase for them. Dire.
