In all seriousness, publishers are going to have to figure out how to market books in the post-social-media landscape. That should be an implicit part of their job. What authors/artists can do on their own is increasingly limited and siloed.

Here's the thing. US farm exports- which are mostly soy- CANNOT get better.

Other countries expanded their soy industries to fill China's demand.

We've walled ourselves out of the global market, folks. This is it.

I had a really great idea yesterday that lit me up in a way writing hasn’t done for a while, but today I woke up and remembered the reality of the industry and the risks I can and can’t afford to take right now and I’m very very sad.

The lowest I’ve been able to find is $141 from Costco so far. Lots of places advertise “free” shots but the fine print says with insurance.

Yeah, I have worked my ass off and I’m still poor. I’m actually in worse straits now, despite having made more money in the past five years.

I always try to be as honest as possible because it’s expensive being poor, which makes it even harder to “bootstrap” your way out. So much of my days are spent forecasting the next crisis, unfortunately.
