Third time lucky! Finally caught up with the stunning pair of Glossy Ibis at Deeping Lakes NR today. Watched the closer one for ages, probing stranded algae for pond snails, preening and generally living its good life...just wonderful!

🏆 Congratulations to everyone at Sutton On Sea Beachcare - named Lincolnshire Environmental Awards winners at this year's finals, held at Whisby Nature Park on Saturday.
Find out more about the work of the group, and the mother and son team who started it at: www.lincstrust.org.uk/news/clean-s...
Representatives of Sutton-on-Sea Beachcare with Simon Kalson from the Rotary Club of Lindum, Lincoln, and sponsor Richard Pennell from Pennells Garden Centres.
The group impressed the judging panel with how its reach has grown since it was set up in 2016, involving local residents, visitors, school and corporate groups and many others in its ongoing efforts, as well as the commitment of the volunteers to raising awareness of often-forgotten marine wildlife. A recent campaign about the dangers of ring frisbees to seals on our coast has had an immediate impact.

If you missed the Sounding The Wash exhibition, you can still listen to @kathrynparsons.bsky.social's future fable exploring how plants and creatures might respond to all that threatens The Wash.

Huge thanks to everyone who helped clear 244kg of rubbish from the beaches at Chapel Point, Gibraltar Point and Anderby Creek this weekend. 'Finds' included fishing nets, a sock, empty bottles of beer and vodka, two Crocs (not a pair!) and plastic nurdles from the tanker collision in the spring.

Thank you so much for clearing away all the litter and for getting the lizard safely back!

Last chance to see the fabulous "Sounding The Wash" exhibition: to hear the underwater thuds, bubbles and gurgles; to wonder at the call of golden plover made visible in porcelain; and to consider the thoughts of a green sea urchin 👇🌊

Friday 19th September - meet the artists at "Sounding The Wash", Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve, Lincolnshire, UK! All welcome!

Huge thanks to all our visitors so far, and the wonderful @lincswildlife.bsky.social!
Kathryn Parsons, Jane Scobie and Sophie Marritt at Gibraltar Point, The Wash, Lincolnshire. The landscape behind the three women is sand dunes, with the sea in the far distance. It's sunny with a few clouds. A collection of small sculptures sits in a display case, in a window overlooking the Wash, Lincolnshire. The sculptures, made by Kathryn Parsons, are made of objects collected on the strandline. Work by Jane Scobie at Gibraltar Point Nature reserve, for the Sounding The Wash exhibition. There's a deckchair with strandline shells and seaweed on the floor. From the ceiling a willow and fabric sculpture is suspended. Poster for Sounding The Wash. The text reads:

Cuteness alert!
Conservation grazers, Ruby and Blair, are last year’s calves. They were raised together after Ruby sadly lost her mum, and these past few weeks they've been embracing 'wild' living at Far Ings National Nature Reserve on the south bank of the Humber.

Lovely photo. We think it's a brown argus too, the figure of eight mark on the hind wing is distinctive.

Not a bittern's usual secretive, camouflaged reedbed habitat, but what a picture!
A rare sighting of a juvenile out in the open grassland on the reserve, close to the path at Far Ings NNR on the south bank of the Humber estuary. With huge thanks to regular visitor Audrey Hunt for sharing the photo.

These fabulous photos of a hobby were taken by Brian Cocksedge at Whisby Nature Park. You can see it chomping down on a tasty dragonfly, one of the speciality food items of this bird of prey.
If you're visiting Whisby, keep a look out - these photos were taken at Grebe Lake.

Look who's moved into one of our workshops! A small colony of brown long-eared bats has chosen to roost in the building, apparently unperturbed by the comings and goings of our wardens, and they are making the most of the rich feeding grounds over the surrounding nature reserve.

A big thank you to the 10 volunteers from Equans who joined coastal warden Dave Miller for their annual beach clean in the Lincolnshire Coastal Country Park last week. They collected 21kg of rubbish from the beach at Chapel Point - sadly including nurdles from the cargo ship collision in the spring.

The Horncastle Horse Fair 'Mane Event' is happening this Saturday!
We will again be opening the beautiful grounds at our Banovallum House HQ and hosting some of the many activities and displays. The closing procession will go round our circular walk, through the gardens and along the riverbank.
Map of the Horncastle Horse Fair and event locations.
Do come along, take the opportunity to explore our small on-site nature reserve, and say hello - we'll have our own gazebo in the walled garden with lots of wildlife-themed fun for all ages.
