In some of the world's worst timing, my graphic novel came out today. 3.5 years of hard work to bring one of my scripts to life and it turned out beautifully. Please consider buying a copy for the kids in your life.

For the first time in forever I have a day off, my husband is in the office and my kids are both in school. Even the cats are being quiet. I'm on the flying draft of a feature and everything is clicking together. There's no better feeling.

Kind of obsessed with the daily stories of food heists by my sister's tuxedo cat so we're making Scrumplestiltskin in the graphic novel version of PRESENT a tuxedo cat too.

I got some good writing done this weekend, and tomorrow I'm going to my friend's house for coffee and homemade Christmas cookies. Sometimes you just have to celebrate the smallest wins.

I just got my 'unfortunately' email from Sundance. Still, I'm proud to have made it this far. This one is very Canadian, and I manifest that it will premiere at TIFF some day.

Other false start. Draft 1, realized as it was quickly becoming a sex comedy, having a 10 year old protagonist would NOT work. Draft 2 from the mom's POV, but felt like I was telling 2 stories. Figuring out who I want to centre in draft 3 is another 2026 problem. #scriptsky #firstpagefriday x2

False starts... wrote the first draft of this as a feature, but decided to adapt it to an actual musical with some original songs so that's going to be a 2026 project..

At my daughter's high school band concert last night and I'm suddenly imagining the scenes I'm going to insert one of the songs she's playing into because it's public domain and perfect for one of my indie movies. We never stop, do we?

Having a really rough year too, so can't afford him at the moment, but also intending to hire him the second I can because so many friends swear by his amazing feedback.
The good: I've been wearing "producer hat" more lately.

Had a rough week and woke up at 330 am today, unable to go back to sleep. I couldn't handle sitting in the dark for 4 hours until the sun rose, so I went on a 'dark night of the soul' walk while the world slept.

My mom heard a hot tip about a warehouse getting a shipment and had the school secretary babysit her first grade class while she went and stood in a parking lot to get them for my sister and I. They were sold out in 20 minutes.
