“The ballroom is really the president’s main priority” is also what Bill Moyers said when audio of LBJ speaking with his tailor about his special pants request leaked.

Like quite a bit actually.
Either you care about other people and you want a better world for everyone

or you don't.

And yes, I do mean everyone. Even the shitty harmful people.
Oh good more accelerationism. /s

Intentionally throwing other people under the bus so you can maybe get a better future really makes me think your better future is still going to suck for people who need help.

And I don't volunteer as tribute.

I've talked about these things before.
I've said it before, but when you think it's fine for "some people" to suffer, you find more ways to justify others' suffering.

Often, you decide anyone who's suffering falls into the "deserves it" category.

And that category grows. And maybe you lie about someone being in that category.
Others have said this more eloquently, but it's on my mind today: I trust those for whom a better world means dignity and health and care even for their enemies, and I distrust those for whom a better world requires that everybody who reaps the benefits be on the same page as them.

And I think she's right because I have seen enough of how the system operated even before Trump to know that trying to decide who actually deserves not to suffer always leads to bad places.

The thing about the way people are responding to this thread is you can see where not only do they not understand why Sheryl has made the decision that no one deserves to suffer needlessly but also they think she's wrong for helping people who have harmful beliefs.

And they're super vengeful.
It is simultaneously frustrating and exasperating the number of calls I get from poor white people who are angry that they are the victims of the policies they support when they're used against racialized people and immigrants.

The idea that people have to earn Not Suffering is capitalist and fascist and trash.

After a week’s hiatus, tonight’s #FridayLimericks look at the right’s implausible denials.

Today’s GOP’s favorite blight
Is selectively used sense of sight.
They know nothing at all,
But they’re here for a brawl—
Deeming ignorance wise for this fight.

This is from a couple days ago, but just saw this. It's a garbage lawsuit. Got a copy of the complaint and, notably, he doesn't include the prompts. If that's defamation, basically anyone can prompt any chatbot in a way that will generate defamatory statements... and then sue.

If you’re proud of what you do for a living then you need no mask to hide your identity. This excuse by ICE is not acceptable in any decent society.
“To us, masks are associated with cowardly desperados and the despised Ku Klux Klan. In all our history we have never tolerated an armed masked secret police.” The Trump administration has said it will appeal that ruling.
