Made a new sign for the #LaborDayProtests but didn’t get out of the house early enough to make it to the one in E PDX, so I’m sharing it here:

We’re facing the most brazen rollback of our rights and fundamental freedoms in generations. It’ll take sustained, united, peaceful pushback to salvage our liberties from the fascist MAGA agenda. Join us on Thursday to “make good trouble” in response to Trump’s attacks on our civil and human rights.

This Fourth of July, I am taking a moment to reflect. Things are hard right now. They are probably going to get worse before they get better.

But I love our country — and when you love something, you fight for it. Together, we will continue to fight for the ideals of our nation.

I urge my Republican colleagues to listen to what they would be voting for: drastic cuts to Medicaid, increased costs for working Americans, and skyrocketing deficits.

Alright everyone. Republicans are going to force a vote on their gender affirming care provision even though it violates Senate rules. They’ll need 60 votes to keep it in. Now is the time to make your voice heard and ask your Senators to stand on the side of health care freedom.

Transgender medicaid ban and definition of sex are back in the federal bill - Dems can raise a point of order and force a vote, and as long as we don't lose 7 dems on this, Dems can keep it out.

Definitely worth some phone calls folks.

This means that Democrats will have to raise a point of order on this part of the bill. This would force a vote on the amendment that would require 60 votes. Republicans have 53 Senate seats, so it means they would need to pick off 7 Democrats for this.

Our joyful, peaceful #NoKings protest in Clackamas was awesome! Too many people to see how far it stretched—at least a couple thousand, I think. Kids w/braces to the elderly sitting on their walkers, all w/creative homemade signs. 🥰🚫👑 #IndivisibleOregon
Protesters holding an oversized orange Cheeto with a crown & comb-over, a sign saying, “A king is only a king if we bow,” and an American flag. Protesters holding signs that say, “I.C.E. = Gestapo 2.0,” “Civil Rights Matter,” and “No Kings in America! (1 if by Land, 2 if by D.C.)” Protester dressed in a Green Knight costume festooned with ivy and flowers, holding a plastic skeleton with the name “Ozymandias” across the forehead (a reference to the poem by Percy Bysshe Shelley). Protesters stretching far down the sidewalk. One sign reads, “Hands Off Clean Energy”

President Trump's budget bill sells out our public lands, cuts job-creating clean energy tax credits, & lets polluters buy their way out of accountability.

Lawmakers backing this bill are voting against our health, our communities, and our planet.
Congress’s Big, Bad Budget Bill is a Dream for Polluters and Billionaires

The Last Class is a reflection of the educators who show up every day, despite a system that asks the impossible. It's a love letter to the teaching profession that means so much to @rbreich.bsky.social.

ALA is deeply disappointed in the result of today's Senate vote to reject using #ERate funding for wi-fi hotspot programs. The E-Rate program is broadly popular and admired, helping millions of Americans get online through the library and at school. More from ALA President Cindy Hohl ⤵️
"This disappointing vote doesn't need to become law if House members consider how many constituents are benefitting - and will benefit in the future from this program. The enthusiasm for this vote was low. E-Rate, supported financially by the Universal Service Fund, is wildly popular. Individuals and families need internet access and digital skills training that libraries are uniquely suited to provide. Hotspots provided through the federal E-Rate program offer flexible, at-home opportunity for internet access, which individuals and families need, along with digital skills training, and that libraries are uniquely suited to provide." - ALA President Cindy Hohl. Show up for our libraries, American Library Association.
