BUDGET RESPONSE
I welcome the news that the Chancellor is finally going to scrap the Tories cruel two-child benefit cap. I have been campaigning on this for a long time, and it will have a huge and positive impact on struggling families in Eastleigh and across Hampshire.

A positive step forward. Far too many carers in my constituency and across the UK have been treated appallingly by the DWP. But this scandal should never have happened. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

Again my Lib Dem colleagues and I have been calling on the Government to scrap the two child benefit cap for some time to help lift thousands of children out of poverty and give them the best possible future. Let’s hope the Chancellor announces this on Wednesday.

Pleased the Government has listened to the @libdems.org.uk who have been calling for rail fares to be frozen for some time. This will be a huge relief to my constituents and commuters across the country. Now let’s see more investment in improving rail services.
Millions of commuters across the UK are set to save after the first freeze on rail fares for 30 years.

Reform UK should be ashamed. Britain deserves better.

The worst possible Government at the worst possible time. All those lives lost, all those lives changed forever. Boris Johnson was not fit to be PM and the Conservatives should never be let anywhere near Government ever again.
BREAKING: UK’s response to Covid was “too little too late”. Acting faster could have saved 23,000 lives in England according to the public inquiry.

Boris Johnson presided over a “toxic, sexist, chaotic culture” in No10, where rule-breaking seriously undermined public confidence.

The thousands of WASPI women in my constituency impacted by the changes to the state pension age and across the country have waited too long for justice. So I welcome the news that the Government is going to consider more evidence.

I’ve written to Keir Starmer, Kemi Badenoch and Nigel Farage urging them to condemn Donald Trump’s attack on the BBC.

The BBC belongs to Britain, not Trump. We must defend it together.

The resignations of Tim Davie and Deborah Turness must be an opportunity for the BBC to turn a new leaf, rebuild trust and resist those like Nigel Farage who want to destroy it

We must stand up for a strong, independent BBC, to stop Trump’s America becoming Farage's Britain.

He should also give evidence to our Parliament. The public deserve answers and full transparency about this scandal.

Ahead of the Budget it's important for the government to recognise the irreplaceable role of the pub for high streets up-and-down the country, including Liz's constituency of Eastleigh.

At the debate on supporting our high streets I urged the Government to take action to revive our high streets, restore pride in our towns and put small businesses at the centre of Britain’s economic recovery. Reform didn’t even bother to show up to the debate.

Today my thoughts are with everyone affected by the dreadful attack near Huntingdon - the victims, their loved ones, and everyone who witnessed it. We're all hoping those injured make a full recovery.

Grateful to the passengers and emergency services who showed such bravery.

Deeply shocked and saddened by the horrendous incident on the train near Huntingdon. All thoughts with the victims and their loved ones and the other passengers who were on board, the emergency services, British Transport Police, local police and hospital staff.
