"The bookcase was a map of her life; the books she had devoured as a child, books she had bought or picked up on her travels through Europe, the books she had read and treasured..."

Raise your hand if you've been emotionally destroyed by TJ Klune recently. ✋ #SomewhereBeyondTheSea is a poignant novel for today's world, and a reminder that hope can endure.

Message to Ernest Cline (re: Ready Player One):

If you want to know how to properly adapt your dystopian novel to film without pissing off everyone who loves your work, check out the new Uglies film on Netflix and then go think about the atrocity you committed.

I will not apologize.

This is true of all creative endeavors.

DO THE THING. DO IT IMPERFECTLY BUT DO THE THING. YOU ONLY GET BETTER AT DOING THE THING BY DOING THE THING

This is very hard for me too.
be less afraid to create clumsy comics. awkward tangents. amateur lettering. weird sequentials and pacing. You Can Just Make it. you dont need to be trapped in a cycle of perfectionism and imposter syndrome when you could have a finished work instead. print that thing out and staple it!!!

@neilhimself.neilgaiman.com Good morning! I was just wondering... Are there bits of Coraline (as a character) that are bits of you, but most people don't notice it because of her gender? Or is she all just thoroughly composted?

Interesting read. I wonder if city planners in Centralia, WA are considering creative flood mitigation like this?

The China Creek Flood Mitigation project was a huge step in a great direction, but what about all the street corners where storm water drains are backed up even in light rain?
I am glad to see "sponge cities" become household planning concepts.

My green neighborhood flooded during a climate-fueled downpour yesterday. Imagine the wreckage if we were paved-over.

This stuff isn't hard: needs a few $ and imagination.

Sponge Cities Are the Future of Urban Flood Mitigation
As climate change amplifies urban flooding, here’s how communities can scale up stormwater management and green infrastructure techniques to make "sponge cities."

The time to get involved in the Cascadia High Speed Rail project is now. Centralia needs to have a voice, and a stop on the route.

The idea of a high-speed rail line through Cascadia has been around for a long time. Recent funding has put the project within reach.
