California just banned employers from forcing workers to pay a debt, fee, or penalty to leave their job.

Bosses have increasingly been trapping workers with debts incurred in training and other exploitative fees.

Now that's illegal in the nation's biggest state.

SCOTUS declined to review an appeal from Alex Jones. This left in place a lower court judge’s order that he pay $1.4 billion in damages to the families who lost children in a 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT.
